There are some days when the name, Clay Aiken, is everywhere.  None of the mentions are huge, but it just seems like his name is everywhere.

Today, I will try to catch many of these fun mentions.  Even if you have seen them before, its fun to see the public recognition for Clay.

On January 18th,  xfinity posted a slideshow titled Idol: Then & Now.  It’s nice that they used two great pictures of Clay.  Under the pictures they say:

Season 2 – Clay Aiken

Aiken is the most successful second-place “Idol” to date. He can next be seen competing in the upcoming season of NBC’s “Celebrity Apprentice.” (Photo: Americanidol.com/NBC)

Be sure and check out the slideshow.  There are a total of 48 pictures of many of the former Idols.  Visit xfinity

It was fun to see that Clay made the list of the 7 Top tweets of the Day by Celebrities.  Who knew there was a site that posts this stuff?  Whatever, its fun that the site thought that the following tweet was fun.

TheCelebs

On January 19th, it was announced that Clay’s episode of Drop Dead Diva  has been nominated for a GLAAD award.  According to GLAAD:
The honorees are recognized for the outstanding images of the LGBT community they put out to the public and you’ll see some familiar faces on the list.

Later in the day, GLAAD sent the following tweet:  @iamwandasykes @lancebass @clayaiken Congrats on your #glaadawards nomination! #DropDeadDiva http://bit.ly/glaadawards     I hope that Clay will be able to attend the awards ceremony.

The Orange County Register, a large newspaper in Southern California sponsors a pop culture and TV blog titled Pedro and the Watcher.  On January 18th, they published their list of the top 30 former American Idols.  They put the list in a count-down slide show that was very nice.  They rated Clay as #5.  You can see the site HERE

One more Top Idol list was published by Mindful of Music.  There was a twist to their list.  They chose one person for each season.  Clay was chosen for Season Two.  There comments about Clay were nice.  They said:

Season 2 – Clay Aiken
Clay Aiken was the smooth crooner on his season, who in the end competed against Ruben Studdard in Idol’s first of three guy vs. guy finales. Though Studdard took the crown in the end, it was no doubt Clay would go far, releasing a total of seven albums including a Christmas alum and a Best of Clay Aiken compilation CD. Now, Clay and his Claymates are still going strong, making him the best and most popular contestant of Season 2.

You can see the entire list at Mindfulofmusic

On January 19th, Clay attended a standup performance by Adam Carola, one of the contestants on Celebrity Apprentice.  Twitter was in full use by Clay, Adam and even some of the audience members.

Clay tweeted the following message and picture:

clayaiken Clay Aiken
He’s a great guy. Fingers crossed that I escape unscathed!

Jason Dixon, the Program Director of  Raleigh 99.9 tweeted the following:

JDFanBuzzPD Jason Dixon
Sitting in the VIP lounge before the Adam Carrolla show with @bmaloney and Clay Aiken. #bignames

When the show was over, Clay tweeted one more time:

clayaiken Clay Aiken

Kick ass job tonight @adamcarolla. Glad you liked our NC bathrooms!

It was really fun when Adam posted a “keek”  (a video).  It’s very short, but worth it to see the fun.

Clay Aiken – The New Digital Water Cooler

By musicfan123 · Comments 14003(9)http%3A%2F%2Fclaynewsnetwork.com%2F2012%2F01%2F09%2Fclay-aiken-the-new-digital-water-cooler%2FClay+Aiken+-+The+New+Digital+Water+Cooler2012-01-09+08%3A25%3A51musicfan123http%3A%2F%2Fclaynewsnetwork.com%2F%3Fp%3D14003
Monday, January 9th, 2012

Are you enjoying keeping up with Clay Aiken’s tweets?  It is fun to see him throw out a little information every once in a while.  I hope Clay is having fun too.  In the last few days, Clay’s twitter account has grown by almost 1,000 members.

Clay’s decision to jump into the twitter world is not surprising.  I am sure that Clay and his PR team have discussed this decision more than once.  Perhaps one of the reasons Clay joined the twitter world was the latest research from Nielsen.

Nielsen is the current authority on television ratings.  They recently published a study linking TV ratings with social media chatter.

In the past, television has been a passive medium.  Most viewers sat on their couches and just watched their TV screens.  However, recently, social networks have seen an increase in the amount of social chatter happening during prime-time television.

Because of the widespread use of phones and tablets, television viewers are no longer just watching TV…they are connecting to other viewers.  They are chatting and discussing their favorite shows and characters.

Most of the major TV networks have started to see this increase and are realizing that it is important to encourage more of it.  This “word of mouth” chatter encourages people to tune in.

The bottom line question the network executives are asking is does the buzz actually help the overall ratings of shows like Celebrity Apprentice and The Good Wife?

Recently, the Bravo Channel saw a positive impact on their shows.  Calling twitter the “new digital water cooler”, they claimed there was a 10% rise in the ratings due to an increase in social media chatter.

Last July, GetGlue also ran a study about social networking and TV ratings.  They discovered that the impact of social buzz on dramas is smaller than the impact on reality shows.  People tend to chat more during the fast-paced show with a bit of controversy.

Another study by Bluefin Labs found that the popular NBC show, The Voice generated the highest level of social media engagement for any show that aired last spring.  It even beat Glee and Dancing With The Stars.

Trendrr.tv shared some data about the MTV Video Music Awards. At 10:35 pm, when Beyonce revealed that she was pregnant, Twitter experienced nearly 9,000 tweets per second in relation to the news.

According to Alex Iskold at Online Media Daily:

Every major television network, large and small, cable and broadcast, is participating in social TV. ABC, CBS, CW, Fox, NBC, USA, TNT, Bravo, Discovery, HBO, Showtime and others are tapping into social media, encouraging and rewarding fans for informing friends about what they are watching and sharing their thoughts on the individual shows.

Since ratings correspond to dollars and it looks like social buzz affects ratings, TV shows will be working with their advertisers to agree how to value the social buzz.  Many people feel that very soon there will be a rating system that scores the measure of the buzz.

The bottom line is this: Lots of social media chatter from the right audiences equates to better ratings. Of course, this means we can expect even more networks to encourage viewers to tweet, Facebook, G+ and gab about shows all over the web.

So…did Clay decide on his own to start tweeting or did Donald Trump and the Trump team encourage him? I am sure “The Donald” watches the TV ratings carefully and stays on top of all the things that affect his show.

Whatever reason that made Clay start tweeting, I am enjoying it.  We all just need to make sure we keep up the tweets while Celebrity Apprentice is active.  NBC…Clay and his fans mean great ratings!!

Clay Aiken – Still In Awe!

By musicfan123 · Comments 13958(10)http%3A%2F%2Fclaynewsnetwork.com%2F2012%2F01%2F07%2Fclay-aiken-still-in-awe%2FClay+Aiken+-+Still+In+Awe%212012-01-07+09%3A00%3A47musicfan123http%3A%2F%2Fclaynewsnetwork.com%2F%3Fp%3D13958
Saturday, January 7th, 2012

It was another amazing day for Clay Aiken and his fans.  I am still in awe of the amount of PR that has surrounded Clay Aiken and Celebrity Apprentice.  For the third day in a row, Clay has had hundreds of mentions on Google.  I just checked Google and they list 107,000 articles about Clay on Celebrity Apprentice.  YIKES!!!

I really enjoyed reading the article on Mashable Entertainment.   Brian Anthony Hernandez wrote an interesting article about Celebrity Apprentice and the use of social networking.  The following is a clip of what he had to say:

Trump and NBC producers likely monitor each contestant’s online sentiment — so fan comments on social sites and message boards also could sway who Trump fires when the season begins Feb. 12. Producers might want to keep contestants that incite significant online buzz, which may translate to better TV ratings.

NBC revealed the cast Wednesday, but searches for Celebrity Apprentice topics are trending high Thursday on Google.  Singer Clay Aiken, who finished second on American Idol‘s season two in 2003, was the fifth hottest-searched topic on Google on Thursday, with Celebrity Apprentice at number 15. Whether that means Aiken is an early fan favorite is yet to be seen. Google searchers could just be looking up who Aiken is.

So…I think we all need to be on top of the social media bandwagon.  Twitter and Facebook are an important part of our support of Clay.

Please read Brian’s entire article at MASHABLE.

I clicked on Gather (anything Hollywood) and I was ready to get mad.  The article by Henrietta Tan was titled:  What Happened To You, CLAY AIKEN?  As I read, I calmed down.  I can almost forgive her headline after reading this comment:

Maybe he’s put on weight, maybe he’s had a little surgical help…but as far as looking good is concerned, we really like how Clay’s “evolved…

Please visit the Gather article to read the entire article.  GATHER

CBS News ran an article titled: Clay Aiken’s National Inclusion Project to benefit from his “celebrity Apprentice” appearance.  Now this is the important message of the entire 3 days!

(CBS) “American Idol” runner-up Clay Aiken will be competing in the coming season of “Celebrity Apprentice” to raise money for his National Inclusion Project, a charity he started to help kids with disabilities be mainstreamed in programs for children….Aiken’s foundation recently benefited from a Champions Gala that raised more than $500,000 from the 500 people who attended the event in downtown Raleigh.

Please visit this site.  We need to make sure they get lots of “props” for writing on the important part of the story!!  CBS

Just one more bit of news… Be sure and visit the updated FaceBook page for Clay Aiken.  It’s a music page and you can play Clay’s music right off the site.  I hope we can give the site lots of hits and plays, especially for Bring Back My Love.  CLAYS FACEBOOK

On a personal note…thanks to so many of you who contacted me personally or with comments about yesterdays post.  Clay Aiken fans are best in the world!!  I am fine.  I am excited and I refuse to let the negative people get me down.  Taking a few hours away from the crazy people certainly helps.  Many times when a person initiates a negative message or difficult attitude, they are trying to trigger a response from you. When we react, we are actually giving them what they want. Let’s stop the cycle of negative snowballing and sell them short on what they’re looking for; don’t bother responding.

I will end this post with a great picture…I am glad Clay has released this wonderful photo.

Clay Aiken – Once Again – It Still Hurts!

By musicfan123 · Comments 13951(13)http%3A%2F%2Fclaynewsnetwork.com%2F2012%2F01%2F06%2Fclay-aiken-once-again-it-still-hurts%2FClay+Aiken+-+Once+Again+-+It+Still+Hurts%212012-01-06+08%3A18%3A56musicfan123http%3A%2F%2Fclaynewsnetwork.com%2F%3Fp%3D13951
Friday, January 6th, 2012

It was another day of publicity for Clay Aiken and his appearance on Celebrity Apprentice.  It seemed that almost every article or interview had Clay’s name in the headline.  Hmmm! Do you think that the PR teams know that Clay’s name creates a buzz?

Here are a few more links that are fun:

1.  The Clicker on Today – NBC  =  This is a great article about Clay. It is almost all Clay quotes about Simon and The Donald. Clay’s remarks are true and articulate.  It is worth the time to read it.  CLICKER

2.    Highlight Hollywood Predicts Clay Aiken As The Winner…Great picture of Clay and interesting article   Highlighthollywood

3.  The Washington Times - Celebrity Apprentice: Handicapping the odds of winning

At about noon on Thursday, I closed out of Twitter.  I was getting too emotional.  I had been having such a great time and then I kept seeing all the hate.  I decided I had too much to do and I was not going to be brought down.  BUT…it certainly made me think.  I remembered that I wrote an article about 6 months ago about negative comments.  I remembered that I even quoted Clay.  With your indulgence, I am posting this again.  Clay’s words are important to read again.

A few years ago, Clay Aiken was gracious enough to answer questions from his fans on his Official Fan club. One serious question stood out and Clays answer was amazing.

This was the question:

I’ve gotten bullied my whole life even at times as an adult. I try to ignore people such as co workers and such but it’s not easy at all. How were you able to develop such a thick skin? Any advice?

And Clay’s wonderful answer:

As unbelievably hard as it is to do, I just learned to ignore. I don’t think that the term “thick-skin” really applies to me.

If I pay attention to negativity, it still hurts my feelings. I don’t think anyone is impervious to that type of pain. Therefore, I found the best way to deal with it is to ignore it.

There has NEVER been a case that I have EVER seen where bullying is not a DIRECT result of the insecurities of the bully themselves.

People who are happy with themselves don’t have any reason to spend their time cutting down other people. In almost EVERY situation, I have found that when someone is mean to someone else because of a trait they don’t care for it is because they have insecurities about themselves and want to make others feel bad for the rush of superiority it gives them. When you let that person affect your attitude in anyway, it gives them dominion over you…which is exactly what they want.

Ignoring is hard…REALLY hard, but one of three things will happen as a result of ignoring those who are nasty to you.

  1. They will see that they no longer affect you and they will stop.
  2. Others will see that they no longer affect you, and they will stop encouraging the bullying…or…and most powerfully…
  3. You’re ignoring will allow you to spend your time focusing on things that make you happy and make you feel good about yourself, and you honestly won’t even notice the haters anymore.

Trust me…it works!!

The title of this article should be all that needs to be said. It’s a good reminder to every fan that when you write something negative on a public webpage it has the potential to hurt feelings. My philosophy is “never write something on the web that you wouldn’t say to a person face to face!”

Clay Aiken – The Excitement Begins

By musicfan123 · Comments 13880(10)http%3A%2F%2Fclaynewsnetwork.com%2F2012%2F01%2F02%2Fclay-aiken-the-excitement-begins-2%2FClay+Aiken+-+The+Excitement+Begins2012-01-02+07%3A45%3A14musicfan123http%3A%2F%2Fclaynewsnetwork.com%2F%3Fp%3D13880
Monday, January 2nd, 2012

Clay Aiken blogged on January 1, 2012.  What a great way to start the New Year!

Personally, I loved reading the enthusiasm in Clay’s blog.  His writing was filled with exciting anticipation and hope for a spectacular year!

We already know that Clay will be busy on his “secret project” for a few months…we also know that Clay has a wonderful new single that has “hit” written all over it.  And, there is a hint that a tour might happen this year!!  It already sounds like Clay will be busy!

But…we all need to be busy too.  There are many things that we can do to support Clay this year.  All of these suggestions are easy and in no way are interfering with Clay’s professional team.

  1. Follow Clay on his Official Twitter account.  Whether Clay tweets or not, this is a great way to show support.  There is no doubt that UMG keeps track of these numbers.  If you are not a fan of Twitter, just follow Clay and use it only when some special news needs to be spread about.  Go to TWITTER Just ask for help if you need it!
  2. Join Facebook and “like” Clay.  Again, the numbers count.  This is the way of the times.  Remember, you do NOT have to share personal information on Facebook.  They don’t care if your address is in Alaska or Florida and they don’t need your phone number or bank account information.  You don’t have to be active unless Clay needs you to be active.  Go to FACEBOOK
  3. Visit Clay’s MySpace page and listen to his new song there.  It’s right back to the numbers again.  The more spins, the better for Clay…it’s easy and it makes you feel like you are doing something to help.  Be sure and refresh between plays.  CLAY’SMYSPACE
  4. Click on Internet articles about Clay and then leave a comment.  Comments are a way to let the site and author know you like to read positive things about Clay.  These sites want lots of hits so if they think Clay will give them hits they will write more.  Keep your comments short and simple…make it a thank you and maybe a comment.
  5. Join the Celebrity Apprentice official discussion site.  This will be a great place to discuss Clay in the coming months. CELEBRITYAPPRENTICE
  6. Gift a download of Bring Back My Love to all your friends who have Internet access.  If they hear it, they will like it!
  7. Wait for word from Clay and his team before contacting radio stations.  We want to do it correctly as this is important.  We don’t want to annoy the stations.

The most important thing we can do is to have fun!!  Enjoy the time…I bet you are smiling right now!!

For more information on the importance of social media numbers:  BigChampagne.com is a web site used primarily by entertainment industry professionals, major brands and their advertising agencies, and Wall Street analysts to access information about the popularity of music, film, and television as it is distributed and sold. BigChampagne’s sources for data include retail accounts (point of sale), traditional radio and television broadcasters, internet radio broadcasters, internet on-demand streaming services, social networks and blogs, mobile device streaming and downloading services, as well as file sharing networks. BigChampagne’s tagline is, “Now you know everything.

Clay Aiken – “Getting To Know You!”

By musicfan123 · Comments 13231(8)http%3A%2F%2Fclaynewsnetwork.com%2F2011%2F11%2F19%2Fclay-aiken-getting-to-know-you%2FClay+Aiken+-+%22Getting+To+Know+You%21%222011-11-19+09%3A34%3A30musicfan123http%3A%2F%2Fclaynewsnetwork.com%2F%3Fp%3D13231
Saturday, November 19th, 2011

On Sunday, February 12, 2012, Donald Trump will be presenting his show, Celebrity Apprentice.  With a cast of great celebrities, the show should garner viewers throughout the United States and Canada.

To be honest, I have never been a huge fan of “the Donald.”  I shy away from huge egos and people who crave the limelight.  But, besides his unusual hair, I admit, I didn’t know much about Trump or his children.  I have to say after reading about him and his kids I was somewhat surprised.

The following are a few facts about Donald Trump.

  • Trump began his career in his family’s real estate business after studying at the Wharton Business School. He worked with his father for five years and was extremely successful in making profitable deals. His father commented on his son’s business success by stating “everything he seems to touch turns to gold”.
  • He is a developer of real-estate complexes and skyscrapers, including Trump Tower, Trump Place Apartments and Trump Casinos and Resorts.
  • Trump is an author of best-selling books, including The Art of The Deal.
  • Nearly forced to file bankruptcy in 1990 after a loss of over two-thirds of his net worth.  Eventually he recovered and returned his net worth to $3 billion.
  • It is reported that Trump receives $3 million per episode of his Apprentice Shows.
  • Trump manages both of Central Park’s public skating rinks.
  •  If nothing else, Donald Trump seems to have instilled some great attributes to his son and daughter who are a part of Celebrity Apprentice.

Ivanka Trump graduated Cum Laude from the Wharton School of Finance at the University of Pennsylvania and received a bachelor’s degree in science in economics.  Presently, she is the Executive Vice President of Development & Acquisitions of The Trump Organization.  She is in charge of the domestic and global expansion of the company’s real estate interests.

Besides her work at the Trump Organization, Ivanka has a successful Fine Jewelry line, a footwear collection and a partnership with Mondani Handbags and Accessories.  In 2012, Ivanka will present her line of clothing that will be distributed through Macy’s Nordstroms, Bloomingdales, Lord & Taylor, Dillard’s and Zappos.

Ivanka is involved in the United Nation Foundation’s Girl Up initiative.  This is a campaign to recruit young women to support U.N. programs for girls in developing countries.  She works with Elizabeth Gore and Queen Rania of Jordan.  The goal is to bring awareness and career skills to young women around the world.

Over the last 3 years, Ivanka has worked with her brother, Eric, for a foundation for St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.  They have raised more than $1 million dollars and work to improve the lives of children battling life-threatening and debilitating medical conditions.  It certainly sounds like Ivanka has her priorities in line.

Donald Trump Jr. received his Bachelor’s degree in Finance and Real Estate from the Wharton School of Finance at the University of Pennsylvania.

Donald Jr. is the director of project acquisitions and development for The Trump Organization throughout the world.  He is actively overseeing over 70 projects all over the world.

According to his biography, Donald Jr. is:

…an accomplished and sought after speaker.  He has spoken extensively throughout the United States and has given keynote speeches internationally, notably in Dubai and India.  Mr. Trump is also an avid philanthropist, sitting on the Board of Directors of Operation Smile and is strongly involved in the Eric Trump Foundation.

AND…Clay Aiken fans know he is active on Twitter!

It is hard for most of us to identify with these people, as their wealth is extraordinary.  However, it is so nice to read that they are active in trying to make the world a bit better by supporting important causes.

Quote of the Day

It is not always about performance art, but about receiving positive energy from people with positive spirits. Sometimes we can see someone's spirit, and those are the people with great energy. Those are the people that get me through the day, especially on Broadway. -Clay Aiken
