Sometimes you just remember a certain Clay Aiken performance more than another. Clay’s visit with Jay Leno on September 15, 2006 is one that is remembered and popular with many fans.
Clay started the promotion for “A Thousand Different Ways” with this appearance on The Tonight Show. He joined Howie Mandel and had a engaging interview with lots of laughs. He chatted about passing out in McDonald’s while in Slovenia and getting so ill that he was planning his funeral.
But, the visit was really remembered more for the stunning look that Clay had that night. There was just something special about the gray suit that made Clay look amazing.
I know we have all seen them before, but they are worth another look. The two videos are pretty awesome too.
Oh my gosh, this is one of my favorite Clay appearances ever. He sounded amazing, looked gorgeous and was so funny. Love this 🙂
Thanks Musicfan..loved thos pictures and seeing the video again. What a tall drink of water!!!!
Yes, Clay looked exceptional that night. Sounded great, and as always, is great when being interviewed.
I have liked all of Clay's appearances on Leno. This is one of the best and I've really enjoyed revisiting it.
I absolutely loved that interview. I laughed so hard at him and Howey. And that suit, OMG he looked so good. Yes tall and lanky. Loved it.
Clay sure does wear a suit well! He looks wonderful in those pictures. He sounded even better than he looke, if that's even possible!!! I haven't seen that performance in a while. It was good to watch it, and the inteview, again!
Love this appearance on Leno. Hope to be seeing him soon on tv again.
I agree with "ImGranny " and "chel4clay " — No one wears a suit better than Clay. In these pictures he looks like a "tall, cool, drink of water." Yep !! Then there is the Voice…..
Thanks for the videos and pics.
I remember that night so well. I gasped when I saw him–he looked so handsome in that suit and I loved the hair. He was hysterical with Howie and Jay. When he sang "Without You", I was just floored. Still love to listen to him sing that song. That's Clay–he can have you laughing one minute and swooning the next.
Hoping he will be back on those late night shows again.
"If you have to make the sandwich, too"…..and that look he gave has always been one of my favorite TV bits. Clay gave us everything that night…style, wit, and his heart-stopping voice.
Thanks for making my day.
Oh, my, that has got to be my very best performance of "Without You." I love..love..love..the last picture you posted on your blog..the full length one. What a handsome man. He could also be a model. The hair..perfection. I have that one taped and I always thought him and Howie were so funny together. I would love to see Clay on Jay Leno's show again. In fact, I would love to see Clay all over TV. Thank you so much for that video!
I was there that night. I had flown all the way across the country to see this show. I didn't even have a ticket. Got up at 4 in the morning to go and stand in line for the last 60 tickets. Waited all day outside the studio to assure we would get in. But it was worth all the effort to see him walk out on stage. Oh my he was absolutely stunning that night. My favorite look of his and one of my favorite moments seeing him.
