Clay Aiken – Remembering Those Who Serve

In the United States, Memorial Day is on the last Monday
in May and honors Americans who gave their lives

for their country in wars.

Memorial Day National Moment of Remembrance at 3PM.
“On Monday May 30th, 2011, pause at 3:00pm local time for a minute of
respectful silence for those who have died in the service of our
nation. During that minute, television and radio stations throughout
America will air simultaneously a 60-second spot which includes
“Taps”. Turn on your radio or television to join your fellow
Americans in putting Memorial back in Memorial Day.”

The first nationwide Memorial Day Parade was held on May 30, 1868 by a group of Civil war Union Army Vets.  Why they chose May 30, no one knows.

Although this holiday is celebrated with barbeques, trips to the beach, and other recreation, it is important to remember the history of the day and the men and women who have given their lives for our great country.

What are your plans for this Memorial Day?  Are you going to a parade or are you staying at home?  Maybe you are cleaning up the grill for an old fashioned Memorial Day Picnic.

Whatever your plans may be, have a safe and memorable Day.  And don’t forget to support Clay Aiken in whatever way you can.  He’s a pretty remarkable young man and today is a good time to show him and the music world that he is loved.

  1. This is a very special day in remembering all of those Sevice People, especially the ones who
gave their lives. All of their families should be remembered, too! – with love and prayers!
Clay will always have my support, love and prayers, also – he is truly a very "amazing" young man,
very worthy of admiration and respect !!

  2. Happy Memorial Day!!!!
Remembering all those that gave their lives, so that we can have our freedom, and praying for all those that are currently serving. I have a friend currently serving in Afghanistan. Thoughts and prayers are always needed. Musicfan, loved watching AI2 group sing "God Bless The USA". That group was absolutely the best group of all. They harmonized so well…It was really very nice.

  3. Happy Memorial Day to all!!! Thanks for the blog, and thanks to American Idol Season 2 (especially that Clay Aiken guy) for a lovely rendition of God Bless the USA

  4. I hope everyone is having a wonderful holiday. Thank you for this lovely blog and I hope that your reunion ended up as a peaceful and rewarding time.

I wonder what Clay is doing today.

  5. I always listen to patriotic music on Memorial Day and the Idols singing GBTUSA is always on my list. Another tradition is watching the PBS concert which reminds us why we need to have a Memorial Day.
