Thursday was an exciting day for fans of Clay Aiken.  The Ogunquit Playhouse released a Press release about Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.  It is great that many sites picked up the story.

A few weeks ago, the playhouse released some information about Clay and his role as Joseph.  On Thursday, they wrote a more detailed press release:

Press Release – Ogunquit Playhouse

Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat Starring Clay Aiken and Keala Settle Opens July 31 at the Ogunquit Playhouse

For Immediate Release: July 25, 2013

The Ogunquit Playhouse is going Technicolor® with Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s irresistible story of Joseph, his jealous brothers and one very colorful garment in this delightful musical parable that swirls on stage July 31 through August 25. The Ogunquit production stars Clay Aiken as Joseph and Broadway’s Keala Settle as the Narrator. This thrilling musical adventure follows the Biblical story of Joseph, the favorite son blessed with prophetic dreams, on his journey to Egypt after being sold into slavery by his brothers. Audiences will enjoy an engaging crazy quilt of musical styles, from country-western to calypso and bubble-gum pop to rock ‘n’ roll. The production includes the popular songs “Go, Go, Go Joseph” and “Any Dream Will Do,” performed by an all-star cast along with two groups of 20 children selected from local casting calls.

This timeless tale of Joseph is filled with surprising humor for adults and dazzling delights for children, and with Clay Aiken and Keala Settle on stage, “It won’t be like any Joseph ever seen or heard before!” said Ogunquit Playhouse Executive Artistic Director Bradford Kenney.

Starring in the role of Joseph is multi-platinum recording artist, American Idol and Broadway star Clay Aiken. Mr. Aiken garnered broad critical acclaim for his Broadway debut as Sir Robin in the Tony Award winning production of Spamalot in 2008 and 2009 and recently played Man in Chair in the North Carolina Theatre production of The Drowsy Chaperone. He has released several albums which have debuted in the top five on the Billboard Chart, launched ten national concert tours, authored a New York Times best-selling memoir and has appeared on many popular television shows, including 30 Rock and Saturday Night Live.

Keala Settle will portray the Narrator. Ms. Settle was most recently seen on Broadway in Hands on a Hardbody for which she received nominations for a Tony Award, Drama Desk Award and Outer Critics Circle Award, and won the Theater World Award. She has also appeared in the National tours ofPriscilla Queen of the Desert, South Pacific and Hairspray

  1. Thank you for this special post – Clay will certainly be a fantastic "Joseph". I so wish I could go to
see this musical. Hopefully we will get some great Clack if at all possible. This is a perfect show
for Clay and just know that he will shine as always. <3

  2. LOVE IT!!!!! Thanks Musicfan for the Press Release. Oh…I cannot wait to not only see Clay as Joseph, but his voice is something I am missing terribly, and am beyond thrilled to hear him sing these beautiful songs…. Is it August yet?????

  3. Oh wow, my eyes popped outta my head when I saw that promo picture!! I am sooooooo pumped to see Clay in a few weeks!! I need to get all my clothes in order for the trip. Looks great up there in the banner!!

  4. I am so excited to see Clay in Joseph. His voice is perfect for this show and the beautiful songs! Saw Joseph done by a local high school theatre group and it was great! It had funny parts too- Clay will be perfect in those!

  5. It is so gratifying to see all the hype being printed about Clay as Joseph. Folks who have not seen him perform live, are in for a real treat. Clay brings his best to whatever he attempts. Just a week and a half before I get to see Clay on stage once again!

  6. Sounds like they have tailor-made this role to fit Clay's style and fashion sense. Will this mean a more conservative lion-cloth and a shirt? It will be interesting to see. I think a lot of people are curious to see, and while I know it will make a lot of us very happy if he does lose the shirt, I really don't think he will.
