Clay Aiken – Enjoying The Bravos!

November 6, 2007?  Does it ring a bell??? Well, Clay Aiken was at The Orleans Arena in Las Vegas as the exclusive musical guest on the Capital One Holiday Celebration on Ice on that day.  The show was taped on November 6th and it aired on NBC on Christmas Day.

Joining a cast of top figure skating stars, Clay was featured as the musical star of a Christmas ice-skating special.  Clay joined Sasha Cohen, Todd Eldredge, Yuka Sato, Shae-Lynn Bourne and many other figure skating stars to tape the Capital One Holiday on Ice.

The Skating Arena held 9,000 people and the seats were filled with both Clay Aiken fans and skating fans.  They flew into Las Vegas from all over the United States to see Clay perform.  A large group of fans sat together in the front area and  other fans were scattered throughout the arena.

In all, Clay sang eight Christmas songs.  One of my favorites was Merry Christmas With Love. Married skaters, Jenny Meno and Todd Sand skated gracefully to this beautiful song.

The evening ended with a wonderful skate by Clay, who joined the skaters in a lap around the rink.  It looked like both Clay and the skaters enjoyed the bravos from the fans and everyone looked like they were having a great time.

I enjoyed reading the article about the event from Comcast:

MULTI-PLATINUM RECORDING ARTIST CLAY AIKEN TO RING IN CAPITAL ONE HOLIDAY CELEBRATION ON ICE
OLYMPIC SILVER MEDALIST SASHA COHEN TO PERFORM ALONG WITH NATIONAL, WORLD CHAMPIONS IN LAS VEGAS

LAS VEGAS, N.V. — What better way to celebrate the winter holiday season than with cool music, Clay Aiken and world-class ice skating?

The Capital One Holiday Celebration on Ice, set for Nov. 6 at The Orleans in Las Vegas, will be a star-studded evening to remember. The show will be a live taping for a Christmas Day TV broadcast on NBC. Tickets for the show will go on sale in July.

Tapped as the exclusive musical guest for the Capital One Holiday Celebration on Ice, singing sensation Clay Aiken will lend his powerful voice to some of the most loved and classic holiday songs of all time. Since 2003, Clay Aiken has garnered a number of different titles. Multi-platinum recording artist, television personality, Goodwill Ambassador for UNICEF (visiting children in war torn Afghanistan, Uganda and tsunami stricken Indonesia), best selling author & advocate for individuals with disabilities through his Bubel/Aiken Foundation.

Headlining the event on the ice is the ever-elegant Sasha Cohen, a U.S. skating champion and the 2006 Olympic silver medalist. Cohen’s skating is a treat in itself, with her mesmerizing style and grace.

I was lucky enough to be at this event and it was a great combination of wonderful music and exciting skating.  Did you see this event live?

I hope the following pictures and videos will put you in a holiday mood.

  1. I remember it very well. I was there, and had a wonderful time! Clay was in great voice and we got to watch how a TV show is made. Great fun!

  2. Great performances by all! Who better to skate by than with the vocal talents of OMC! The glory notes were beyond spectacular! I wish I could see the whole performance of "Merry Christmas with Love" which is my favorite of Clay's Christmas! Nevertheless, thank you musicfan for the videos and articles!

  3. I remember watching this show on TV and also recording it. Clay did a wonderful job singing those Christmas songs from his album while the skaters performed. I got a chuckle at the end when some of the young women skaters brought Clay onto the ice for a skate around the rink. Clay acted as though he didn't know how to skate and needed assistance. We all know that Clay had performed at the ice rink in Raleigh on skates many times. He was just having fun with us.

  4. YEs remember it so well and was so excited to be able to attend my sister from BC Canada flew into Sacramento and met us here in Northern California and then we flew to LV to see Clay and the ice show. It was magical and first time I had seen Clay in person but voted for him 65 times on Season 2 of Idol he is my favorite singer of all time and miss him singing now in 2015 wish someone would put him on as a guest soloist on DWTS for the pros to dance to his singing like here in this ice show his voice suits this type of venue. He also needs to get a great manager to book him on BROADWAY why on earth isn't he doing more with his singing yes he is in politics now but use his voice also that GOD gave him and we fans want to hear
