Clay Aiken – It Is Nothing Personal – It Is Just Business

I am beginning to feel better about things.  I always try to look at the positive side of things and I really believed that Clay would win Celebrity Apprentice.  It never crossed my mind that there might be things going on in the background that had influenced the choice of the winner.  So…I was in shock.  I have not yet watched the broadcast of the show.  I know I will, but right now, I just CAN’T!

There were two very interesting articles on the Internet on Wednesday.  Two of the cast members of Celebrity Apprentice have spoken out about what they thought about the finale.  Both are interesting reads and have helped me understand what was going on.

The lovely Debbie Gibson writes a newsletter for her fans.  Wednesday, she wrote about many topics.  She had something to say about Sunday’s Finale:

I WILL say though that I could not join the center stage hug at the end of the show because in that moment my FIERCE LOYALTY to Clay and my HONEST feeling about the outcome took over. The thing that bothered me most….well, two things actually. One – Clay’s party and show showed WAY more attention to detail. TWO – I got fired supposedly because of dollars and cents. I don’t agree that this “game” should be all about money. I never did. But so long as that precedent was set, it struck me as being insanely hypocritical that NOTHING was mentioned about the fact that TEAM CLAY raised over 300k!!! We ALL hustled for him out of his PASSION for the charity that clearly was his baby. It inspired me to raise over 50k…the most I ever raised on the show. His passion for The National Inclusion Project motivated me and inspired me to be SHAMELESS in reaching out to friends like Dick Van Patten and Natural Balance, Donny Deutch, Andy Fickman, Music Sales,,,,,others who wish to remain anonymous but were there for me because they heard the passion in my voice that all stemmed from CLAY’S devotion to this cause.

I do not begrudge anyone success or care about who the “winner” is in the sense that…it means nothing really. But in that moment, just the name being announced moment…I did feel like an injustice had been done.

I think Arsenio will be amazing WHEN he is back on late night TV and whether he won or “lost” he WON just by being back in our living rooms for ANY amount of episodes. This is nothing personal towards Arsenio…. I simply felt that in overall presentation and fundraising Clay was the CLEAR winner!

Thank you, Debbie, for sharing your thoughts with all of us.  Your words were honest, complimentary to both finalists and portrayed your feeling during the finale.  Please go to Debbie’s site and read the entire entry.  Visit DEBBIE

Adam Carolla broadcast his Pod-cast on Monday.  He was very critical about the results of the finale of Celebrity Apprentice.  His comments have been picked up by some of the press.  Kelly West at TV Blend shared what Adam said for those who cannot hear Adam’s Pod-cast.

Last Sunday night’s season finale of The Celebrity Apprentice wasn’t the first time I was surprised by the results of a reality TV competition series. Those things are never entirely predictable, and would we really want them to be? With that said, there was a level of dissatisfaction over the conclusion that came less from Donald’s decision to declare Arsenio Hall the winner as it did from not exactly understanding why Arsenio won. His earnings were substantially lower than Clay’s for the final task, and while he was technically undefeated on tasks, he and Clay were tied for wins (two a piece, with Clay losing one task of the three he managed). Clay stood out as the better player over all though. At least, the show seemed to present him that way over the course of the season, while Arsenio took a slightly less aggressive approach to playing. It seemed like Clay should have won, not merely for his performance in the final task but for his performance over the course of the game, and yet Arsenio took the victory. Why is that? Adam Carolla made some comments on his podcast that point to a bigger-picture scenario concerning Hall’s future at NBC (or on television in general).

Carolla talked about Celebrity Apprentice on his podcast this week, bringing up the differences between the two parties and shows put together for the final challenge leading up to the finale. From the way Carolla spoke about the tasks, he was impressed by Clay’s team’s efforts. “One was a comedy show and one was a music show. Sort of apples and oranges but they really kicked ass,” he said. He also spoke numerous times about the difference in the money raised, with Clay’s team earning more than $300k, while Arsenio’s total was just over $150k.

Apparently, from what Carolla said, everyone was in agreement that Clay should win. They were asked about it in the boardroom, which wasn’t shown during the finale. “They went around and asked everybody, ‘Who do you think should win?’” Carolla said. “And everyone just said ‘Clay.’ Even people on Arsenio’s team just said ‘Clay should win. He’s just the strongest player.’”

So, assuming he’s not exaggerating, it sounds like the competitors this season were also expecting a different outcome. Carolla admitted during his podcast that he was confused. And then he went on to mention something a woman told him. He’s very vague on the details about who exactly said this to him, and that should definitely be taken into account when reading his comments, but it sounds like it’s someone involved in the production of the series somehow…

“When they gave it to Arsenio, I was confused. I couldn’t believe it. And then when I was done… I probably shouldn’t mention any names – When I was done, one of the girls – I said, ‘I’m fuckin’ shocked. I mean, don’t get me wrong, I was Arsenio’s team captain, so I’m fine. We were hugging it out before and drinking white wine and shit. And he comes on the show and all that. I’m just fucking shocked. I am shocked. And one of the chicks sort of pointed at her microphone and said, ‘I’ll tell you why as soon as I take this off.’ And then, later on I didn’t talk to her. Later on, I talked to another one of the chicks and she was de-mic’ed and I said, ‘What’s the deal?’ And she said, “Oh Arsenio’s got a deal with NBC or deal with whatever company and this is what they’re doing or this is how it works.’ That’s what she said. I don’t know…”

He’s not naming names, so we’ll take this as more gossip than anything, but is it all that hard to believe? As though to reinforce what was said, we’ve already heardthat Arsenio is sifting through offers from multiple networks to headline his own talk show.

Assuming what was said is true, it’s really disappointing, as it compromises the integrity of the series. People can scoff at the very idea of that, but a big part of the entertainment value from shows like these comes from a satisfying ending, one way or the other. I would have been much more satisfied by the ending of this season if I understood why Trump made the decision he did, which may be part of the reason why I have an easy time believing what Carolla said. Hall is a likable winner, but his win didn’t feel like a fitting ending for the season. So either that’s the fault of the series for not showing us enough evidence that Hall was a better competitor than Aiken going into the finale, and Trump’s for not sufficiently articulating why Hall deserved to win over Clay, or what Carolla said is true. Or some other reason. We can only speculate at this point.

Please stop by TVBLEND and why not leave a comment.  This lets Kelly know we appreciate her article.

What do you think?  Do you question the results or do you think we are all just disappointed?  Share your thought!

Clay Aiken – Tonight’s The Night

By musicfan123 · Comments 16316(10)http%3A%2F%2Fclaynewsnetwork.com%2F2012%2F05%2F19%2Fclay-aiken-tonights-the-night%2FClay+Aiken+-+Tonight%27s+The+Night2012-05-20+05%3A14%3A07musicfan123http%3A%2F%2Fclaynewsnetwork.com%2F%3Fp%3D16316

Today is the day!  Today we find out who will be named the new Celebrity Apprentice.  I don’t know about you, but I am so excited and happy that Clay Aiken is a finalist and has a great chance to win.  Clay deserves to win and I refuse to think any other way.

Luckily I will be at the show tonight, ready to cheer Clay and enjoy seeing the confetti moment in person.  And,of course, I will report what I can about what we saw at the taping.

I read an interesting article at the HuffPost – Gay Voices.  Written by Michelangelo Signorile, the articles discusses Clay’s involvement with Celebrity Apprentice, North Carolina’s Amendment One and many more topics.

Signorile says:

A few days before his face-off with Arsenio Hall on the finale of Donald Trump’s “The Celebrity Apprentice” (Sunday night on NBC), Clay Aiken was confident and comfortable.

“I hope I’ll win,” said the openly gay singer and actor who shot to stardom as a contestant and first runner up on “American Idol” almost ten years ago. “We have different styles. [Arsenio Hall is] a little more laid back. I’m a little more hands-on. I think the effects of my efforts were superior. I think we’ll see on Sunday when Mr. Trump makes his decision.”

When talking about Clay’s role as a gay activist, Signorile says:

Aiken also weighed in on his new-found role as a gay activist, taking on North Carolina’s antigay Amendment One and appearing on CBS’ “Face the Nation” opposite the Family Research Council’s Tony Perkins last week, an experience he laughingly still can’t believe happened.

“Wasn’t that crazy?” he asked, beaming with a smile, in an interview on my SiriusXM radio program. “So it did happen, you’re saying? Because I was thinking it was all a dream.”

The article also discusses Clay’s decisions about coming out to the public and his sense of responsibility to support young people.  Clay said:

“Making sure that people don’t have the same type of struggle that I did. I’ve realized now if I can be a a part of making it easier for a kid to be able to be comfortable with himself, then I have a responsibility to do it.”

Be sure and read the entire article.  It is very interesting.  You can read it at  HUFF

I Love New York!!

I Love Clay Aiken

I Love Celebrity Apprentice!!

The meet and greet today was so great.  There were hundreds of fans there.  By the time we got there from the airport, we ended up at about the middle of the line.  The store had to add barriers to the area on the side of the building.  I think they were surprised at the many people who lined up.

It was HOT!!  But waiting in the line for over an hour was worth the few minutes of time with Clay and Arsenio.  Clay and Arsenio looked relaxed and happy and Clay was certainly handsome.  Even though the store was trying to hurry all of us through the line, Clay and Arsenio had a short comment and a big smile for each person.

Dancermom and Dancerdad were both there are so we all are so lucky to have fabulous pictures.  Thank you both for sharing with everyone!!

They really are wonderful!!

More in the morning.  4 hours of sleep in the last 36 hours is catching up with me!!

Clay Aiken – Call Your Mom!

The following announcement was posted on the Official Facebook Page of the NBC Universal Store.

Rose Kennedy once said, “I looked on child-rearing not only as a work of love and duty, but as a profession that was fully as interesting and challenging as any honorable profession in the world, and one that demanded the best that I could bring it.”

Mother’s Day in the United States is annually held on the second Sunday of May. It celebrates motherhood and it is a time to appreciate mothers and mother figures. Many people give gifts, cards, flowers, candy, a meal in a restaurant or other treats to their mother and mother figures, including grandmothers, great-grandmothers, stepmothers, and foster mothers.

Here are a few fun facts about Mothers

  • The first official celebration of mothers in the United States took place in 1858.
  • From Australia to Zimbabwe, more than sixty countries celebrate Mother’s Day together with Americans on the second Sunday in May.
  • More than 83 million mothers are living in the United States, according to the US Census Bureau.
  • Nearly 96% of all Americans participate in Mother’s Day celebrations in some way. Mother’s Day is the peak day for long distance carriers.
  • Mother’s Day is the second biggest gift-giving holiday in America, preceded only by Christmas. The National Retail Foundation estimates that Americans will spend more than $14 billion a year on Mother’s Day.
  • Mr. Roger’s mom knit him many of the sweaters he wore on the set of his popular children’s television show.
  • Elephant moms gestate their calves for 22 months. Thankfully, human babies are born after 37 to 42 weeks.

Even though Clay Aiken will be very busy today, I would imagine that there are two very special Moms that will hear from him today.

The mother of your child always has a special place in your life.

Happy Mother’s Day to Jaymes!

It doesn’t matter how old you are,

your own mother is always a part of your life.

Happy Mother’s Day to Faye!

Clay Aiken – “I Came Here To Win!”

By musicfan123 · Comments 16109(5)http%3A%2F%2Fclaynewsnetwork.com%2F2012%2F05%2F07%2Fclay-aiken-i-came-here-to-win%2FClay+Aiken+-+%22I+Came+Here+To+Win%21%222012-05-07+08%3A10%3A09musicfan123http%3A%2F%2Fclaynewsnetwork.com%2F%3Fp%3D16109

It is the morning after…Celebrity Apprentice was on NBC last night and for those in the USA, we watched episode 12.

The twist for the week?  Two people are now gone…Teresa Giudice was eliminated because she was not a good Project Manager on the last task.  Then, Lisa Lampanelli was “fired” because she was too emotional in the boardroom.   So, now it is:

Clay Aiken

Arsenio Hall

Aubrey O’Day!

The articles and reviews are already published and giving their opinions about the celebrities and the show.  The following are some of the more popular sites.  I am quoting only a few lines from each article.  Be sure and read the entire article and why not leave a comment.

Clay’s Take – NBC/Celebrity Apprentice /Blog

… Lisa and I got along swimmingly for the entire task. Lisa didn’t look for ways to trip me up. I certainly didn’t give her any reason to be upset with me, and we produced something great.

… Teresa is the NICEST lady on this season. That’s just the bottom line truth. No matter what you may think of her on Real Housewives of New Jersey, this woman is the epitome of hard work and generosity. She is just incredibly nice.

Be sure and visit this site and read Clay’s blog.  AND….PLEASE…leave a positive comment.  Anything that will help is important and you know the “negative nellies” will leave their thoughts.  It would be great if there were twice as many positive comments as negative ones.

Reality Wanted – Episode 12 Recap

by Todd Betzold

… Lisa is owning her right now, bitchy or not. The other team members are listening in and Clay is cracking up and Arsenio and Aubrey are getting ticked.

… The models arrive for Clay and they all start coming at him…how do they want to the make-up, how is the set designed and so on…he kept saying they will decide when Lisa gets there…he is overwhelmed and says no direction.

… Clay decides to get the photos started since Lisa is still not back from shopping…she finally arrives. They get some clothes on a model and put her in front of the camera since they are running behind. Clay is working with the photographers and models while Lisa sits and eats. Clay is upset because they have no clue who is project manager on set as well. Donald Trump, Jr. comes in and Lisa gives him the concept and he is worried it is too deep to be understood in a print campaign.

… Time for Team Forte…Lisa and Clay do a very good…they have a lot of information on their ads, which could hurt them.

… Marlee said Clay is very sweet, but not sure if he is a leader or a follower. Marlee says Clay played the game safely since he was only project manager twice. John questions the number of times he has been project manager and why he hasn’t stepped up more times.

EW.COM – Aubrey’s Model Behavior

By Dalton Ross

My Ross…where is the review?  You spent more that ½ of your review on silly fluff.  Now, I know you like to make fun of the show, but how about letting us know what happened on the show?

… John Rich, on the other hand, was a total hard-ass. He roasted Aubrey for saying she had hundreds of thousands of dollars waiting to go to her charity, filleted Clay Aiken for saying he still hadn’t given his best yet (even though JR basically entrapped him into that answer), and told Arsenio Hall he didn’t look tired enough. It was all a little absurd — and wonderful.

You can read the entire review at EWCOM

After you read this blog, check out Dalton’s interview with Lisa.  She said:

If you were crowning the winner of this season of Celebrity Apprentice and couldn’t crown yourself, whom would you give the title to? Who did the best job this season?

I’m going to get hate mail from Aubrey about it even though she knows I love her, but I think it would have to be between Aubrey and Clay. Because Clay had a lot more dignity than we did and he still does. I mean, he’s a little bitchy queen and we all know that. He’s probably the only person I met on the show whom I still talk to a lot. I think he’s hilarious and there’s just something about the heart he puts into his charity, that he created that charity. Plus, he’s worked hard and he’s smart. He’s like a dark horse and I think he is amazing. And I’m not like Little Miss Charitable. I totally was on this show for fame as much as charity, but you know what? Clay feels it and I think he should be a winner.

Reality TV Magazine – Chi Campaign

…Clay is listening at the door and cracking up since they neveeer cared what models the ended up with from the beginning!

… Next up is Clay who John and Marlee question whether he is a leader or a follower.

AceShowBiz – Double Elimination And One Cliffhanger

… Lisa and Clay Aikenagreed to use “more than just a new pretty face” as their slogan. Lisa went shopping for the models’ outfits, while Clay took responsibility for the photo shoot. When Lisa got back, the “American Idol” alum continued directing the photo shoot, but his project manager just sat and ate.

… On the other hand, Clay and Lisa did a good job at the presentation. The execs said their pictures were dated, but they gave a lot of information.

… As for Clay, Marlee and John found it hard to determine whether Clay is a leader or a follower.

Trump Fires Two: Is Clay in The Finale?

By Brooke Cain

… Even though Clay wasn’t the project manager this week, he did an awful lot of the work. Lisa went shopping with her models because, according to her, “Clay is the only gay guy in the world who doesn’t know anything about fashion,” and Clay supervised the photography.

… Later, Donald Trump Jr. stopped by to see how the photo shoot was going and dropped one of the best zingers of the night:

Lisa: “We are so winning this it’s like unbelievable, right Clay?”
Clay: “Hello! I’m picking out the pictures of women!”
Junior: “What could possibly go wrong there!?”

… They thought Lisa and Clay did a good job pushing the dryer info and catering to both the Elle and Chi audiences, but they thought the clothing was dated (chosen by Lisa!) and that the presentation lacked passion.

Luckily for Clay, Chi preferred his team’s ad, so he was safe. At least for a bit.

…  Clay impressed Marlee with his background with kids with disabilities, but she felt he was playing the game too safely. His interview with John Rich didn’t go very well. John said he thought Clay was a nice guy, but also thought he was playing it safe. John really hammered Clay on why he didn’t “wrestle someone to the ground” to be project manager more often.

… Well, we have to wait until next week to see who else gets fired. I’m still betting Clay makes the final two. And wins this thing! Fingers crossed, at least.

NJ.com - Aubrey O’Day and Clay Aiken for an all-ginger finale?

By Vicki Hyman

…TEAM FORTE (Clay Aiken and Lisa Lampanelli): Lisa is the project manager. Elle editor-in-chiefRobbie Myers tell Clay and Lisa to marry the Elle girl — sexy, but never vulgar — with the hair dryer. Lisa wants to focus on how lightweight and quiet the hairdryer is, basically, what’s on the inside, and comparing it to women, who are often judged on their exterior. (Um, like Dayana? Ah, the irony.) “More than just a new pretty face” is the slogan.

Lisa goes shopping for the clothes for the models while Clay sets up the photo shoot, although he says he doesn’t have a lot of direction and tries to put off decisions until Lisa gets there. When Lisa finally shows up, she works on the copy while Clay continues to direct the photo shoot. Lisa pitches the concept to Don Trump, who has reservations about getting the idea across to readers.

At the presentation, Clay and Lisa sell the heck out of their campaign. The photos are a little dated looking but offer a lot of information.

… Clay talks about his charity, which helps train people to include those with special needs into summer programs. Marlee says she thinks Clay has played the game safely. He says he hasn’t made enemies, which speaks a lot to his character. John asks him if he’s too nice to win. “I didn’t come here to fight with people,” Clay says. “I came here to win.” I love that. It’s turning the tired reality show saw “I didn’t come here to make friends” on its head. John tells Trump he’s concerned about Clay saying he’s held back in past challenges.

Zap2it – Teresa Giudice and Lisa Lampanelli are fired

By Jen Harper

…even though Lisa and Clay Aiken seem to be at a disadvantage numbers-wise (Teresa has Arsenio Hall and Aubrey) and when it comes to subject matter (Lisa admits to being clueless about fashion and, as she says, “Clay is the only gay guy in the world that doesn’t know anything about fashion”), they still pull out a win.

Clay Aiken – Creating A Buzz

On Thursday, the Internet was buzzing about multi-talented Clay Aiken.  His name and information about him could be found in many different categories.  It seems this young man is creating a buzz all over the Internet.

Clay’s name was linked with Dee Snider.  Dee’s newest album drops next Tuesday and the reviews are beginning to pop up.  The album titled Dee Does Broadway, is filled with familiar songs and features many singers in duets with the Twisted Sister star.

One of the first reviews to reach the Internet is on The Dallas Voice.com and is very positive.  I loved what they said about Dee’s duet with Clay Aiken:

I waited with anticipation for track 8, “Luck Be a Lady Tonight.” Teaming with Clay Aiken, this is the musical equivalent of The Twilight Zone. The song starts off gently only to screech into high gear. The juxtaposition is a fun one. Aiken clearly wins in the slower intro, but he holds his own against

Snider’s shrill vocals. Aiken can actually belt out a heavy metal tune and sounds in the vein of Ozzy Osbourne or Don Dokken. The potential that this song could have been a train wreck is easily dismissed and it turns out to be the best track on the album.

Congratulations to Dee and Clay.  I can’t wait to hear the song on Tuesday.  To read the entire article about Dee Does Broadway, click DALLASVOICE.

Clay has been a friend and supporter of the Caregiver Magazine since 2005.  Clay was a keynote speaker at their conference and a recipient of the Robert M. Barg Memorial Achievement Award in 2005.

On Thursday, the organization announced the Henry Winkler would receive the Magazine’s Rare Advocacy Award on May 24th.  In the article, they did mention Clay.  What a wonderful group of people who are named as previous winners and what an honor to be a part of the group.  The following was posted:

Today’s Caregiver magazine and http://www.Caregiver.com, the nation’s foremost print magazine and Web community educating, training and supporting family and professional caregivers since 1995, will present the Robert M. Barg Memorial Achievement Award to actor, director, author and producer, Henry Winkler during the May 24th Western Connecticut Fearless Caregiver Conference in Southbury Connecticut. “This prestigious award has only been presented to a select few caregiver advocates in the organization’s 17 year history who represent a special brand of kindness and advocacy and whose hard work truly makes a difference in the lives of those in need,” said Gary Barg, founder and editor-in-chief of the first national magazine for caregivers, Today’s Caregiver magazine, http://www.caregiver.com, and the Fearless Caregiver Conferences. Prior recipients of the Robert M. Barg Memorial Achievement Award include Debbie Reynolds, Clay Aiken, Della Reese, Robert Urich, Leeza Gibbons, Clay Walker, Patricia Richardson and Linda Dano.

It is wonderful to know that the name of Clay Aiken will always be a part of this list.  More information can be found at the links in the article.

Theatermania is a group that writes about the top headlines in the field of theater.  On Thursday they announced that:

Cast members from the Tony and Drama Desk-nominated Broadway musical Newsies will join the previously reported recording star Clay Aiken and Tony nominee Montego Glover at Family Equality Council’s Night at the Pier celebration in New York City on Tuesday, May 8.

The event will feature Broadway-themed performances in honor of the 30th anniversary of Family Equality Council – the national organization that connects, supports and represents the one million parents in the U.S. who are lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT).

Aiken is currently featured on NBC’s Celebrity Apprentice. He is perhaps best known for his appearances on FOX’s American Idol, and was seen on Broadway in Monty Python’s Spamalot, playing the role of Sir Robin. Glover received at Tony nomination for her performance as Felicia Farrell in Memphis.

I certainly wish I could be at this wonderful event.  I always love to hear Clay sing and I would love to hear some of the music from Newsies.

CarterMatt.com is a site that reports and reviews TV shows.  They have reported on Celebrity Apprentice after each episode.

Today, the site published an article titled; Clay Aiken fights against Internet hate

The writer says:

Clay Aiken knows one thing by now after years of dealing with the public’s reaction to his sexuality — how to be comfortable in your own skin, and not give in to some of the bigotry and hate that often comes in your direction based on people with no right to judge.

The writer quoted Clay in the article:

“I occasionally retweet some folks just 2 highlight their ignorance & stupidity. I certainly don’t take offense from [stuff] said by idiots!”

I am glad that CarterMatt wrote about this important topic.  Internet bullies and paid bullies are getting out of hand!

NBC/Celebrity Apprentice posted an album of pictures from last Sunday’s show titled Jingle All The Way.  You can see the pictures at NBCPICTURES

It is exciting to see Clay Aiken articles throughout the Internet.  I do believe that people are falling in love with him all over again!

Which one of these topics do you think is the best for Clay?

Clay Aiken – “A Decent, Intelligent Human Being”

I’m exhausted!!  This happens every week.  It starts at 9:00pm Sunday night and continues for at least 24 hours.  Can you imagine how the stars of Celebrity Apprentice feel?  After a task like Jingle All The Way Home, they must feel beat up!!

It is just a few hours after the end of episode 11 of Celebrity Apprentice.  Already, there are many reviews, blogs and articles about the show.

As it has been for the last few Monday’s, I am listing a few of the many articles, quoting some of the interesting parts, and providing a link to the entire article.

I do want to remind you all that it is important that we give the sites hits on their page.  Hits are important to Internet sites as they move the site up in the search and also let the site know if the article is successful.  And…anyone who posts articles enjoys comments.  It’s the best way the reader can let the site know they enjoyed the article.

OK…Here We Go!!

Clay Aiken’s Blog – Clay’s Take is posted at the NBC/Celebrity Apprentice site.  It really helps to understand what was going on.  One thing stood out to me.  Clay wrote:

I went and tried to discuss with Dayana how what she had said upset Lisa. Despite having incredible conversational English, Dayana sometimes mixes up words, and what she explained to me was that when she said “loud,” she was just trying to say Lisa was a strong player. I tried to tell her that praising me for all of my work and then not recognizing that Lisa had done a LOT as well was enough to be insulting. She said okay, but I don’t think it mattered to her. Her apology to Lisa was pretty insincere. But the blood between the two of them is so bad now by week 12 that I don’t think anything would smooth it over.

EW.COM –The Celebrity Apprentice’ recap:  Jingle (And Argue) All The Way

By Dalton Ross

… A lot of incredible things happened during this episode of The Celebrity Apprentice, from the eruption of Mt. Lampanelli, to the rare loss of composure by Clay Aiken

… Poor Dayana. At least she had someone around to be nice to her in Clay. Or did she? Nope, even the usually calm, cool, and collected Clay lost patience with Miss Universe. “Dayana is the most frustrating person I have ever met in my life. I spent years teaching kids with disabilities and never have I had to draw on that type of patience since I’ve been in a classroom more than I did this task.”

… it was somewhat shocking to see Clay snap as he did when Dayana asked him to simply move from stage right to stage left. Clay freaked out, trapping Dayana’s hand between his own, and yelling about being “a grown ass man.” First time I’ve seen the singer lose his composure this season, and all I can say is…ABOUT TIME! Get with the program, Aiken! Don’t you know what show you’re on? Stop being such a decent and intelligent human being, immediately!

NewsObserver – Happiness Is A Warm TV – Jingle all the way

by togburn

…Filling in for Brooke on “The Celebrity Apprentice” recap this week — the first episode since Clay Aiken‘s brush with firing. And our North Carolina home boy has another rough go of it as he gets caught between the ever-battling Bickersons — comedian Lisa Lampanelli and former Miss Universe Dayana Mendoza.

… Because Clay, center, was project manager last week, he agrees to let Dayana, right, handle it this week. Hmmm, this could be a problem, seeing as how he’s a professional singer and she knows so little about music that Clay actually has to explain to her that a jingle has nothing to do with “Jingle Bells.” Still, he and Lisa, left, try to teach her. And for a while, they listen patiently while Dayana suggests a jingle that sounds like Duran Duran. Cause we all know RV drivers can’t get enough “Hungry Like the Wolf.”

…Clay and Lisa come up with a ’60s-style “Good Sam” jingle that, to my ears, sounded a lot like the old “Good Times” TV theme song. After Dayana’s failed first attempts at songwriting — they have to explain to her that the words “man” and “track” don’t rhyme — she agrees to go with Clay and Lisa’s jingle, those she does want to add a hippie to the performance. (Um, wrong part of the ’60s there, Dayana.)

…In perhaps her most hypocritical moment of the episode, Aubrey — just minutes after touting the good work of her charity, which aims to stop the bullying of kids — bullies Arsenio by suggesting that he likely tap dances at home in a cheerleading skirt. You stay classy, Aubrey.

…  Clay also blows up when Dayana tries to tell him how to perform the “Good Sam” song. “Either take over and tell me what to do or shut up and let me do what I know how to do,” he snaps.

… Through it all, our man Clay sits quietly, though his facial expressions are priceless. When Trump finally asks him to speak, Clay says what everybody is thinking — Dayana just didn’t do much.

…  Be careful, Clay.

Fun to see the hometown saying good things about Clay!!  You can read the entire review at HAPPINESS

The Washington Times – Communities - final five Aiken, Arsenio, Aubrey, Lisa, Teresa

By GAYLE FALKENTHAL
Clay Aiken, 32, American Idol runner-up. Charity: The National Inclusion Project. Odds: 8-1. Aiken has already put himself on the toughest public stage there is, “American Idol.” I predicted he might hang in there longer than expected. Has he ever. The Claymates are going to love seeing me eat crow. They told me their man Aiken would perform well, and I’m convinced. He’s been smart, strategic, and he’s shown more edge than I thought he possessed which has served him well.

At the beginning of the season, this site rated all the celebrities.  In their first article, they had Clay almost at the bottom of the list.  Good to see that they are coming around!

A.V.Club – Celebrity Apprentice

…“Jingle All The Way” was teased as the episode in which Dayana drives her team into lunacy, and damn if it didn’t deliver. Her choice to take over on a task out of her wheelhouse was clearly a political move. With either Lisa or Clay at the helm, there’s no way Dayana would have a voice anyone listened to. As project manager, she still doesn’t, exactly, but she has the chance to take credit for an Aiken-sung jingle if it goes well, and to duck out of the way if it doesn’t. Unfortunately, it’s not just that music isn’t Dayana’s forte (ba-dum!). It’s more that she’s completely unfamiliar anything outside of Duran Duran. When she asks in the car if jingles had to do with Christmas music, Clay puts on his mask of infinite patience to explain to her that they weren’t while Lisa winces.

… But Dayana, intentionally or not, gets in quite a few passive aggressive digs at her teammates. As Clay’s explaining how song-writing works, Dayana throws up her hands and says, “Can we just call Debbie Gibson?” Clay and Lisa keep it civil, save for some eye rolls at Dayana’s attempt to rhyme “track” and “Sam” and her request to have the song sound more “yellow,” until Don Jr. comes in and asks about the process.

… It’s not all Lisa and Dayana, either. During rehearsal, Dayana attempts to assert some leadership by offering suggestions to Clay on where he should stand. This is Dayana’s modus operandi: Come in with a suggestion that seems small at a time of high stress. Like, “take it to the 1980s” or “add hippies here.” Clay’s veneer of patience cracks, and he lashes out at her. But they’re all professionals, and the show must go on. Clay and Lisa turn out a cute, nostalgic, Frankie Valli-esque jingle with Clay’s dulcet tones and Lisa’s quick-thinking lyrics. Dayana stage manages and comes out to mumble a hello at the end.

…OK, who wants to give Clay Aiken a cameo on Mad Men?

Reality Wanted – The Celebrity Apprentice Season 5: Episode 11 Recap

By Todd Betzold

…Team Forte determines that Clay must be singing for the jingle. Dayana wants to throw out words that rhyme, but Clay says they need to get the melody first…he is getting frustrated because this is his forte, but he is not project manager and feels Dayana is not suited for this task.

…For Team Forte, Clay and Lisa come up with a ‘50s-‘60s theme for the jingle, which Dayana wants to then bring it up to the ‘80s.

… The musicians arrive and work with Team Forte…Dayana doesn’t understand the music genres, so they have to go through the songs to get her on board. She eventually likes the ‘60s theme and then wants the band to add some pink into the song…let the reins go and let Clay take over Dayana.

… Team Forte starts writing the lyrics for the jingle…Lisa is writing them and Dayana wants to do it together, which Lisa is over. They finally get Clay in the studio to sing and Dayana is trying to take over…telling him to sing this way or that way and we should have girls singing it. Then Lisa goes in to speak some words and Dayana says to speak in a nicer tone…both Lisa and Clay want to kill her. Clay said she is trying to take charge of something she has no clue on how to do it.

…Dayana is worried about having a ‘60s theme onstage for the presentation as well and wants to bring a hippie up there, but Clay and Lisa shoot down that idea.

… Team Forte gets to the dance studio for rehearsals and Clay is working with the backup singers and dancers when Dayana steps in to give him advice, which finally sets Clay off. This is what he does and she wants to give her advice, yet again. Either tell him what to do or let him do his thing…she finally backs off and tells him to do it.

… Clay finally gets a chance to talk and says he agrees with what Lisa has said.

E-Online – Celebrity Apprentice Recap: Whose Voice Cracked Under Pressure?

Today 8:44 PM PDT by NATALIE ZURAWIN

…  Dayana felt upstaged by her teammates when they chose a ’60s theme. As soon as Clay Aiken put his singing chops to work, Dayana put in her two cents—actually, more like 50 Cent, hounding him with “21 Questions.” While Dayana reigns as Miss Universe, Clay is president of ClayNation, so shouldn’t he get the final say when it comes to writing a song?

CarterMatt.com – The Celebrity Apprentice review: Clay Aiken, Dayana Mendoza, and Good Sam

…The only thing that made this whole ordeal even worse was that Dayana decided that she wanted to play the leader, and tried to give advice to Clay about how to perform on stage. He was a ticking time bomb for much of the challenge, but eventually he exploded on her and pretty much laid down the law — if you want him to actually do a good job, you actually have to let him do the job that he is trained to do (especially since he does a darn fine job at it).

… Despite this team being more combative, we actually thought that their Good Sam jingle was far and away better. It had a retro feel, was catchy, and the performance did not smell of old cheese. With that being said, Dayana shouldn’t have ruined the performance by coming out at the end out of costume.

How did you feel about last night’s show?  Did the right person go home?

I loved watching Clay…he was so smart to just sit there.  Watching his face let us all know the whole story!

Quote of the Day

It is not always about performance art, but about receiving positive energy from people with positive spirits. Sometimes we can see someone's spirit, and those are the people with great energy. Those are the people that get me through the day, especially on Broadway. -Clay Aiken
