Clay Aiken -Polished, Professional and Classy

Do you remember what you were doing on March 12, 2010?  For many Clay Aiken fans, this date will bring back memories of the taping of the PBS special at the Raleigh Memorial Auditorium.  The concert, lovingly called the “OMG” Concert was the beginning of a year of wonderful live music, a new CD and DVD and many PBS specials on TV.

The concert was polished, professional and classy.  Clay’s voice was phenomenal on the fresh arrangements of the timeless classics.

Clay opened the show with a rousing rendition of Mack The Knife and closed the show with a poignant version of Moon River. Each song chosen for the program allowed Clay to showcase his wonderful voice.  It is amazing how his voice soared on the variety of songs.  Each one highlighted his versatility and range.

I still find it impossible to describe Unchained Melody on this night. It started out slowly and emotional but then…as SueReu said: likened to a 747 taking off or thunder that started in Clay’s toes and traveled through his body.

I feel lucky that I was able to be in the audience that night.  It is one of my favorite “Clay” moments!

I hope you enjoy these videos.

The first one has talking Clay, singing Clay, and pictures of Clay!!

I wish Clay could perform another concert like this.  It was very special!

  1. Some of my family and I were there for that fabulous show and it has been described just like it was – magnificent ! Clay was so classy – and his voice superb.

Thanks for the pics and videos – they bring it all back and yes, another show like that would be so welcome.

  2. I was glued to my TV set that special day with my phone turned off and a “do not disturb” sign on my door! Mesmerized by the glory note from “Unchained Melody”. OMG!

  3. I was there to share that magical evening with Clay. I always wonder why the PBS stations don't show that again on the fund raisers that seem to occur every few months. Guess I'll just have to get the DVD out and play it myself.

  4. hey thanks so much for the videos and the pics and yes anther consert show like that would be amazing and welcome also
