Annie’s Song

You fill up my senses
Like a night in a forest
Like the mountains in springtime
Like a walk in the rain
Like a storm in the desert
Like a sleepy blue ocean
You fill up my senses
Come fill me again

Come, let me love you
Let me give my life to you
Let me drown in your laughter
Let me die in your arms
Let me lay down beside you
Let me always be with you
Come, let me love you
Come love me again

~John Denver

Denver wrote this for his then-wife Ann Martell after their first separation and near break up of their marriage in 1974.

He was reflecting on all the joy he found in his marriage and his relief that they were back together.

Clay Aiken sang this lovely song on April 7, 2016 for the “Almost Final Finale” of American Idol.

He stood on a black stage with a spotlight right on him.

Anyone would know he is a star.

Clay’s performance was beautiful.

  1. I did watch AI this night and loved Clay singing “Annie’s Song”. Clay said he wasn’t too crazy about the song but he did good anyway. You are right – Clay always looks like the star that he is. I will be watching for him and Ruben on the Tamron Hall Show!
