Clay must be enjoying Laura on the live TV performance of The Sound of Music.  She is playing the role of Baroness Elsa Schraeder.

The following are a few fun things about Laura:

1.   She has a Tony and has starred in half-a-dozen network TV shows.

2.   16 years ago Benanti was already playing the lead role of Maria on Broadway…when she was only 18 years old.

3.   If you’re a regular viewer of Law & Order: SVU or Royal Pains, you’ve seen her as a recurring character.

4.   She received a Tony award for her performance as Gypsy Rose Lee in Gypsy in 2008.

5.   Laura has a live album, In Constant Search of the Right Kind of Attention, that is on sale right now.

6.   On the Great White Way, Laura has performed Maria in The Sound of Music, Cinderella in Into The Woods, Claudia in Nine, and Candela in Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown.
