I think Clay Aiken fans are some of the luckiest fans around. Not only does Clay allow us to video his performances, he encourages it. Then, there are the people who have the videos who stay up late to make sure that everyone can see them.

Thank you to Clay, the photographers and the fans who upload all the “Clack” It is appreciated by so many.

Why don’t you take a minute and check out these YouTubes of the performances of Clay from the Golfing Event.

Inclusion Means Participation

“This event, for us, is about raising awareness just as much as raising funds.” With this statement, Clay Aiken expressed his feelings about the Golfing For Inclusion Event that took place on Monday, January 26, 2009.

Clay spoke with emotion to a room filled with interested participants. The audience, a mix of both golfers and fans, listened as they were thanked for being passionate and supportive of the Bubel/Aiken Foundation’s mission. They learned that the Bubel/Aiken Foundation is currently active in 17 states. The goal is to see the program working in all 50 states.

The full day activities started early with a brunch followed by an interactive golf lesson with Wayne Player. After a bit of warm-up, the golfers had the opportunity to play 18 holes on the beautiful and challenging Mirasol course.

The evening activities included a buffet dinner, an auction, a thank you from the founders and a short concert by Clay Aiken.

The auction was spirited as Clay encouraged the participants to bid just a bit more. The highlight of the auction was a dinner for 4 with Clay and his bodyguard/friend, Jerome. The high bid for the dinner was $35,000. As the auction came to an end, approximately $60,000 was raised.

Clay started the entertainment by introducing Ben Cohn, his pianist for the evening. Ben currently works as the assistant conductor and first keyboardist on Wicked in New York. He received his Bachelor of Music from Ithaca College where he studied piano and voice.

The two musicians presented a program of five popular songs, which included I Don’t Have The Heart To Hurt You. Two songs from Clay’s second album, A Thousand Different Ways were featured, along with Proud of Your Boy from the movie Aladdin. A special moment was the performance of This Is the Moment from the musical Jekyll and Hyde. Clay said, before singing, that he had not performed the song since he was in high school and hoped he would remember the lyrics.

The Golfing For Inclusion event was well-received by all that were involved. Because of the generous participation of the golfers, their guests and the dinner participants, the foundation was able to raise both needed funds and awareness of the goals and ideals of the Bubel/Aiken Foundation. Clay, again thanked the participants by saying: “During tough economic times, it is very heart warming to see people filling the seats. It shows that people have compassion and are passionate about TBAF.”

Oh yes…….for those interested, there were many “clack gatherers” in attendance so there will be many pictures and videos for fans all over the world.

I can Do It.

"I can Do It."

Sally’s foursome is out on the course right now and said Clay is traveling around on a golf cart visiting with the golfers and taking group pictures. He is having fun and very talkative (shock!). Sally said she has a 13 yr old girl in her foursome (Samantha) that is a great golfer. She didn’t even know who Clay was, but he spent quite some time teasing and chatting her up and she said she will not soon forget him.

According to Sharon, Jerome just picked Clay up and they left. Oh, championship poker player Greg (Fossilman) Raymer is there and will be giving a poker exhibition tonight prior to the dinner. It’s pretty quiet right now as most of the golfers are still out and the evening guests haven’t arrived yet. If I hear anything else before the dinner, I’ll post.

Clay Aiken Playing?? Golf

Clay Aiken Playing?? Golf

NEW INFORMATION

Just heard from Sharon, Sally and Susie.

First, the hair is red and neatly cut-blowing in the breeze. He was wearing a black shirt with the BAF logo, khaki pants and golf shoes. He had on his black face watch, no rings, his cell phone is in his right pocket and the freckles were beautiful. . Susie wanted to know if that was a good enough description.

When Clay and Wayne Player came out to do the golf clinic, Clay was standing right next to them and was goofing off with Wayne. Clay told them that he still couldn’t play T-ball, but he could now dance. Jerome was there with him.

The girls talked to a photographer who is there and were told that a piece for educational TV will be shown in a couple of weeks. They also saw someone with a video camera, but don’t know if it is a fan or not. They will try to find out. Considering the economic slump right now, they are very pleased to have only 1 team less than last year. The teams teed off 45 minutes ago.
Just as last year, the breakfast was phenomenal with made to order selections. Jerry and Diane are there and they chatted with Diane for a bit. She said that the BBQ and concert was a sell-out and they had to set up extra tables to handle the reservations. It was for club members and guests only. Hopefully, Sally will give me a call when Clay heads out on the course to “hunt gators” again.

Too Far From Florida

By musicfan123 · Comments 97(4)http%3A%2F%2Fclaynewsnetwork.com%2F2009%2F01%2F14%2Ftoo-far-from-florida%2FToo+Far+From+Florida2009-01-15+02%3A47%3A15musicfan123http%3A%2F%2Fclayaikennews.wordpress.com%2F%3Fp%3D97

There are many people that want to support the TBAF Golfing For Inclusion, but are not able to attend. Aron Hall, the Director of Services at the Bubel/Aiken Foundation, has come up with a great plan.

The Foundation has a connection with the First Tee program in Florida. Through this program, it is possible to sponsor a young golfer so that they can participate in the tournament.

For $500, a young golfer can participate in a full day of activities. This is an excellent way to encourage a young golfer and support the TBAF at the same time.

If $500 is too expensive, why not set up a board sponsorship?? It would be nice to see a young golfer supported by each fan board.

If you are interested, you need to use the registration form at the TBAF web site and check the entry that says “Phantom Sponsor”.   If you don’t put in a name, the TBAF can use the sponsorship to choose a player who needs it the most.

Quote of the Day

It is not always about performance art, but about receiving positive energy from people with positive spirits. Sometimes we can see someone's spirit, and those are the people with great energy. Those are the people that get me through the day, especially on Broadway. -Clay Aiken
