PBS is a private, nonprofit corporation that was founded in 1969. Their members are 356 of America’s public TV stations. They pride themselves in offering the opportunity to explore new ideas and new worlds through television shows and online content to Americans from every walk of life.

There are three outstanding musical series on PBS. Each one celebrates outstanding artists. Which series might highlight Clay Aiken? Well, you can choose where you think he would fit in.

Soundstage was reborn in 2001. The Great Performances Series is probably the most well-known series on PBS. This is the 37th season and the programs bring the best in the performing arts from across the nation and from around the world. This series presents very diverse programs from classical music, opera, popular song, musical theater and many other fields. The artists represent a “Who’s Who” of excellence in performing arts.
The third series is titled American Masters. It is an ongoing series of primetime specials that examine the lives, work, and creative processes of outstanding cultural artists. The series started in 1984 and is a celebration and exploration of creativity in America.
Whatever the series, the list of celebrated musicians that have performed on PBS is extensive. Ranging from Martina McBride to Elton John, from David Foster to Paul Simon, each musician has the opportunity to perform for millions of people. 39 million households watch public television during an average week.
Nielsen Media Research reported that the primetime audiences watching PBS are significantly larger than many commercial channels, including HBO, the History Channel, and Bravo.
