photogenic: having features, coloring, and a general facial appearance that look attractive in photographs – World English Dictionary

Supporters of Clay Aiken are always amazed at the gorgeous pictures that fans take of him in concert.  One of the concerts that produced a great deal of stunning pictures of Clay was the October 14th concert in Chicago.  Held at the Park West Theatre, the concert was a fundraiser for WTTW, the PBS TV station in the Chicago area.

What made this night so special?  Well, Clay seemed happy and relaxed and gave the impression that he was having a wonderful time.  Add to that the intimate setting and the wonderfully talented photographers who were able to take some amazing pictures.

There are so many wonderful photographs from the Chicago concert.  It was hard to choose just a few.  Do you have a favorite?  Oh……..don’t forget to watch the video.  It is “classic Clay!”

It certainly was a night to remember in North Carolina on Saturday night.  The staff of UNC-TV went all out to encourage the fans of Clay Aiken to participate in Pledge Night at their PBS station.  Hosting Clay live in the station was great and then involving the fans in contests, twitter parties and extra pictures made the entire evening a huge success.  The station reported that they exceeded their goal of pledge numbers for the evening.

Now………this is the way to succeed in a fundraising event.  The staff went all out to make sure it would be successful.  Congratulations on a job well-done.

Here are a few of the great pictures that were taken last night.

UNC-TV is a statewide public television network in the state of North Carolina.  It is operated by the University of North Carolina.  The studios are located at the UNC Center for Public Television at Research Triangle Park.  All the PBS stations that are licensed in North Carolina are a part of this network except for WTVI in Charlotte.  UNC-TV went on the air on January 8, 1955.  Today, UNC-TV is a 12-station network

The network publishes Centerpiece Magazine each month. This publication includes information about the station and the shows that are featured in the month.  The September magazine just arrived and Clay Aiken is on the cover.  Tried & True: Live! will be braodcast on UNC-TV on September 11th.

Put March 12, 2011 on your calendar as it was announced that the Tried & True tour will be in San Francisco, CA on that day.  The Regency Ballroom has been chosen as the venue.  This beautiful venue was built in 1909 and features blond hardwood floors, a horseshoe-shaped balcony and a built-in stage.  The Grand Ballroom has 35 foot ceilings and 22 turn-of-the- century teardrop chandeliers.  It sounds like a beautiful place to enjoy Clay Aiken in concert.

The Regency Ballroom is operated by Goldenvoice, a division of AEG Live. AEG Live, the nation’s second-largest concert promotion and touring company, is comprised of special event, broadcast and exhibition divisions, fourteen regional offices, and numerous state-of-the-art venues nationwide.

Watch for a special Official Fan Club pre-sale for this show  in mid-September. Tickets for the San Francisco show go on sale to the public on October 3.

As an active philanthropist, Aiken serves as a National Ambassador for UNICEF and founded an organization for children with autism called the National Inclusion Project. His “Tried and True Tour” plays Minneapolis in conjunction with PBS pledge drives across the country, visiting more than 20 cities including Orlando, Houston and Baltimore.

Clay Aiken – Tried and True: Live!

“American Idol” viewers in January 2003 were taken by surprise when an unknown singer strode confidently into the audition room, announced to the judges that he was their choice and backed up that claim with an electrifying rendition of “Always and Forever,” which instantly caught the attention of millions watching at home. Many of them – like judge Randy Jackson – must have wondered, “Where is that voice coming from?” After nine sold-out national tours, six million copies of his four chart-topping albums worldwide, numerous television appearances, a New York Times best-selling memoir, an auspicious Broadway debut in Monty Python’s Spamalot, extensive travels for UNICEF and the launch of his own successful foundation -The National Inclusion Project – Aiken brings his clarion voice, engaging personality and Southern charm to PBS in CLAY AIKEN: TRIED & TRUE – LIVE!. Special guests Linda Eder and Ruben Studdard join Aiken onstage. Taped in Aiken’s hometown, Raleigh, North Carolina, before a wildly enthusiastic audience, Aiken brings his powerful vocals and uniquely personal interpretations to new arrangements of some of the most iconic songs ever written.

WKNO – TV/10 is the Public Television Station that serves the community of Memphis, Tennessee.  Now more than 50 years old, WKNO chooses quality programs to:

“illuminate, inform, entertain, and educate the people of the Mid-South community.”

Tried & True: Live is airing on WKNO/Channel 10
Sunday, August 15, 8 p.m., 11 p.m. and 2 a.m.
& Tuesday, August 17, 9:30 p.m.
Airing on WKNO2
Tuesday, August 17, 7 p.m.

The following picture and article are on their web page.

Chart-topping “American Idol” vocalist Clay Aiken brings his clarion voice and personal interpretations to new arrangements of iconic songs, including “Mack the Knife,” “It’s Impossible,” “Moon River,” “Misty,” “Unchained Melody” and a duet with Broadway star Linda Eder on Roy Orbison’s classic lament “Crying.” Fellow “American Idol” star Ruben Studdard guest stars.

Taped in Aiken’s hometown, Raleigh, North Carolina, before a wildly enthusiastic audience, Aiken brings his powerful vocals and uniquely personal interpretations to new arrangements of some of the most iconic songs ever written, including “Mack the Knife,” “It’s Impossible,” “Moon River,” “Misty,” “Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You,” “Suspicious Minds,” “Unchained Melody,” “What Kind of Fool Am I?” and a stellar duet with his special guest, Broadway star Linda Eder, on Roy Orbison’s classic lament, “Crying.”

Having grown up listening to this genre of music, Aiken says, “I wanted to do something that paid tribute to the Johnny Mathis, Perry Como and Andy Williams type of sound, because those artists sang really emotional material and did it wonderfully.” And there were the “tried and true” songs themselves, which Aiken finds “melodically appealing and beautiful.” He adds, “I’ve often joked with friends that I was born at the wrong time because the songs I like to sing are all from earlier eras. So performing this kind of music was an opportunity to just be myself.”

This station also broadcast a wonderful interview with Clay.  The 30-minute program is a wonderful introduction to Clay and covers his musical career and his work with The National Inclusion Project and UNICEF. This is a “must-see” interview that is full of lots of information and new clips of Clay in his role of UNICEF Ambassador.  You can download the video at Clack Unlimited

Clay Aiken seems to to be skilled in the act of juggling. He has so many tasks at this time it is amazing that he can keep them all under control.

One of the tasks is the DVD – Tried and True: Live.  The DVD was recently released and great news was published by the Associated Press.  According to Soundscan, the DVD is a hit.

Another part of the juggling act is Clay’s new song for Disney.  Called I Believe We Can, the song is part of an episode of Phineas and Ferb.  Titled Summer Belongs To You, the entire project is getting a great deal of publicity from Disney and news about the show and song has been on most of the mainstream entertainment site.  The entire soundtrack for the show was made available this week at I-Tunes.  Have you purchased it yet?  For more information,  visit Wikia Entertainment

As most of you know, Clay is in the middle of a 17 city tour.  The Timeless Tour with Ruben Studdard is a huge success and is being heavily promoted at most venues.  The tour will visit the MGM Grand – Foxwoods on August 7th.  Susan Podhajski, a correspondent for ctpost.com, wrote an article about the concert and included a nice interview of Ruben.

They sang their hearts out and tried to out-perform one another while winning the hearts of millions seven years ago on TV’s “American Idol.”

Now, “American Idol” winner Ruben Studdard  and Clay Aiken are sharing a stage once again — the two will perform their “The Timeless Tour” Saturday at the MGM Grand at Foxwoods Resort and Casino.

The PBS special,The Clay Aiken: Tried & True ~ LIVE! started being shown throughout the USA this week.  In most cases, telecast of the program is being used as a part of the fall pledge drives for the individual stations.  If you want to support the station, the stations have different gifts that are given to supporters who donate.  Most of the stations offer a copy of Tried & True CD and the DVD.  Clay was able to visit many of the PBS stations to tape pledge breaks that are run during the telecast.  It’s always fun to see and hear Clay chat about his work.

A selected number of stations will have tickets to the new Tried & True:LIVE tour that is scheduled for February and March.  Two of the areas that are including tickets are East Tennessee and Miami.  They posted some information this week that is fun to read.

If you are a fan of Clay Aiken, you probably realize that Monday’ s are usually good news days.  That was the way it was yesterday as many different bits of news came to light!

Talk Stoop Interview

We learned early in the day that the scheduled interview with Cat Greenleaf  on NBC has been rescheduled for Thursday, July 22nd.  It will be shown at 6:15AM.  It will be shown again later in the day on the computer at Talk Stoop. Two more days to wait to see Clay, suspenders and all on TV.  Cat Greenleaf and  Clay looked like they were having a great time together.  I bet thee interview will be great!

Clay Gets A Haircut!!

Ed Slott and Clay Aiken met at the  PBS TV station in Atlanta, Georgia.  Mr. Slott had his picture taken with Clay and put it on his FaceBook page and even Tweeted it.  It was a real treat for Clay fans to see the picture as it showed Clay with his new hair style.  Some fans mourned the loss of the long hair, while others cheered for the shorter look.  All thought Clay looked handsome and at ease with Mr. Slott who probably had no idea his picture would be all over the Internet.

More On Phineas & Ferb

Britt Bickel is a staff writer for 94.7, The Wave, a popular radio station.  They posted the following article on their web-page.

Chaka Khan is not only a soulful diva who inspires fans through her uplifting lyrical messages in her music, but she also inspires children through her Chaka Khan Foundation to help at risk kids reach their full potential and achieve their goals in life.

Chaka Khan has always been a strong advocate and heavily involved in children’s foundations, making her one of the best choices to voice an animated version of herself in a popular children’s cartoon on Disney. Another “Idol” is guest starring along with her performing a new original song on the show, find out more here!

Disney channel’s hit children’s cartoon Phineas and Ferb has a huge lineup of guest stars in August, including the divalicious Chaka Khan and American Idol‘s Clay Aiken performing on an upcoming episode called “Summer Belongs To You.”

The two music powerhouses will be drawn up in 2D animated form to sing an original song on the show “I Believe We Can” to inspired children in a “Thomas The Tank Engine” kind of way that they can achieve anything they set their mind to.

Chaka Khan told Entertainment Weekly about her guest spot, “That’s my message in all aspects of my life. I’d do anything that lifts kids up.”

So gather your children around the Tube for an uplifting message brought to you by Diva of soul Chaka Khan and the heart-melting voice of Clay Aiken for the episode airing on the Disney channel on August 6.

Music powerhouse and heart-melting voice……..yes…….I like those descriptions of Clay Aiken. To see the entire site visit   The Wave

WPBTZ – Miami

WPBT2 is the PBS  station that serves the viewers in South Florida.  The Miami  station posted a wonderful Tried & True Video on their site today.  That in itself is wonderful,, but the article to the side of the video was even better:

Trailer for “Clay Aiken: Tried & True – Live!” concert special, airing this summer on WPBT2 in Miami. In the special, chart-topping “American Idol” vocalist Clay Aiken performs iconic songs, including “Mack The Knife” and “Build Me Up Buttercup.” With Linda Eder and Ruben Studdard.  Premiere is Saturday, July 31, 7:30 pm with repeats scheduled for Sunday, August 1 at 8:00 pm and Thursday, August 5 at 9 pm.

Tune in to find out about tickets to his upcoming concert at the Adrienne Arsht Center and how you can guarantee your chance to see Clay.

According to their Facebook, the concert will be in February, 2011.

The Arsht Center consists  of 2 venues.  One is a Concert Theatre (Knight Concert Hall)  that has  2200 seats.  The other is where the Miami Ballet performs (Ziff Ballet Opera House).  It has 2400 seats.

A Clay Aiken fan who works for PBS said that PBS has posted tentative tour dates for February and March.  The PBS stations will continue to pledge the program in December and March.  It sounds like the PBS concert and show is turning out to be an amazing step in Clay’s career.

This is an exciting time to be a fan of Clay Aiken.  Let’s hope we get even more news tomorrow!!

With the excitement of Clay Aiken performing on PBS this year, I wanted to know more about PBS.  I have to admit that I have not watched the station as much as I probably should.  I watch Antiques Roadshow and my grandkids love Sesame Street and Dragon Tails.  However, I think its time to start watching some of the outstanding shows that are a part of the PBS schedule.

When I visited the PBS website, I found out so much more about PBS.  The following is a small part of the information they have on their site.

PBS: AN OVERVIEW

Quote of the Day

It is not always about performance art, but about receiving positive energy from people with positive spirits. Sometimes we can see someone's spirit, and those are the people with great energy. Those are the people that get me through the day, especially on Broadway. -Clay Aiken
