Clay Aiken – A Day of Jubilation

On Friday night, the White House was splashed with rainbow-colored lights to celebrate a Supreme Court ruling that legalized same-sex marriage around the country.
The light display capped a day of jubilation over the decision at the executive mansion.
Justice Anthony Kennedy wrote for the majority:
No union is more profound than marriage, for it embodies the highest ideals of love, fidelity, devotion, sacrifice and family. In forming a marital union, two people become something greater than they once were.  Their hope is not to be condemned to live in loneliness, excluded from one of civilization’s oldest institutions. They ask for equal dignity in the eyes of the law. The Constitution grants them that right.
Clay Aiken was in North Carolina when the Supreme Court decision was announced but he immediately was on the phone, talking to Larry Flick on his morning show, The Jolt.  The panel of 4 was excited about the results and shared their thoughts with their audience.  If you would like to hear Clay on The Jolt, Click HERE .
Twitter played an important part in Friday’s celebration.  WPXI sent the following tweet:

Clay is on their list and even though the picture they use is not recent, I do like it!

Clay also used twitter to communicate some thoughts.  He retweeted a post that was very touching:

First gay couple to be married in Dallas Texas, George Harris 82 and Jack Evans 85. Together for 54 years
The San Jose Mercury News posted the following article and included Clay’s other tweet on Friday:

Celebrities react to gay marriage ruling, from Lady Gaga to Neil Patrick Harris

Celebrities from authors and singers to politicians are voicing their reaction on social media to the Supreme Court ruling that strikes down bans on gay marriage.

Here is a sample of what some celebrities are saying:

“Love WINS!!!!!!!!” — Singer Pink on Twitter.

“My eyes shine with tears as marriage equality is ruled the law of the land. What a pride weekend it shall be!” — Star Trek actor George Takei on Twitter.

“Your move, sir.” — singer Clay Aiken on Twitter, linking to an article about Texas pastor Rick Scarborough threatening to set himself on fire to stop gays from marrying.
A snarky remark, but certainly gets the point across.
I usually post YouTubes that are showing Clay Aiken, but I am making an exception today. The following is the Gay Men’s Chorus of Washington singing The National Anthem after the ruling.
