Clay Aiken – At The Very Top!

Chart Beat is a section of Billboard that posts the latest news in the world of Billboard’s definitive sales and airplay charts.  The following was a part of today’s article:

FEAT OF CLAY: With “Tried & True” becoming his fifth top 10 on the Billboard 200 with a debut at No. 9, Clay Aiken passes Kelly Clarkson for most top 10s on the tally by an “American Idol” graduate.

Carrie Underwood ranks third among the Fox TV series’ former finalists with three top 10 albums, followed by Daughtry‘s Chris Daughtry, Kellie Pickler, Jordin Sparks and Ruben Studdard, each with two top 10s.

Aiken first appeared on the Billboard 200 with “Measure of a Man,” which spent its first two weeks at No. 1 in November 2003. He revisited the top tier with “Merry Christmas With Love” (No. 4, 2004), “A Thousand Different Ways” (No. 2, 2006) and “On My Way Here” (No. 4, 2008).

WELL DONE, CLAY!! We are all proud of your accomplishments!!

  1. Wow…I am so happy for Clay…

This is so amazing considering Clay has no radio play…. I can only imagine what would have been if Clay had had half the promotion of the other idols… YAHOO!!!!!

  2. This is just amazing news! With no radio play. He is just something else. I love him. Go Clay!!!

  3. I am so very proud of Clay Aiken, congrats to Clay and Decca Records for this amazing Tried and True CD.

  4. Clay sells albums on his name recognition alone, I wonder how many Idols would be capable of that. Plus I don't think anyone has broken his record for a debut single. I think Clay sold 393,000 in the first week. Not too shabby.

  5. I ordered T&T from Amazon as soon as the album was announced. As soon as I played it, I wanted to buy a couple for gifts. While I was out I stopped at Walmart but couldn't find it. The clerk said you have to order it online. Of course, I order more from Amazon, but think of all the people who would have purchesed this CD if it had been in the stores right in front of them!
