Clay Aiken – Hoping For More News!

Today is Wednesday, November 9th.  Along with most fans of Clay Aiken, I was hoping for some messages about Clay’s adventures in New York City.  Well, that didn’t happen!!  Today just has to be a better day.

So…today I thought I might write about some things that might be of interest to Clay and his fans.

First… PRNewswire reported that Songs For Japan, the unique, star-studded album collection created to help raise money for victims of Japan’s 2011 earthquake and tsunami disasters, continues to benefit the survivors through Japanese Red Cross Society.  Yesterday in Tokyo, senior executives from four major music companies – EMI, Sony Music, Universal Music and Warner Music Group – met with Japanese Red Cross Society Vice President, Yoshiharu Otsuka, to recognize the milestone of $10 million raised and donated from the global sales of Songs For Japan.

As someone who has family (inlaws) in Japan, this is something that I find exciting.

Before I knew about Clay Aiken, I didn’t know much about the Wake Forest School District, but Clay, through his blogs, let us know that there was trouble going on in the school district.

I learned that the Wake Forest Schools were some of the best in the nation until some extremists took over the school board and decided to go backwards instead of forwards.  Clay wasn’t shy in stating his opinions about what was happening.

On Tuesday, the voters stood up and decided to challenge some of the changes.  According to The New And Observer:

The new Democratic majority will now chart Wake’s direction on challenging issues such the role of diversity in the new student assignment plan, dealing with a tight budget next year and planning for the next bond referendum.

I am sure this vote put a smile on Clay’s face!!

360 degrees from this information is the following news.  In a move that falls right in line with the old adage “actions speak louder than words,” director Brett Ratner has stepped down as the producer of the 2012 Academy Awards. It seems that Ratner threw out some gay slurs last Monday.  It seems his mouth opened before his brain went to work.

Academy President, Tom Sherak said:

He did the right thing for the Academy and for himself.  Words have meaning, and they have consequences. Brett is a good person, but his comments were unacceptable. We all hope this will be an opportunity to raise awareness about the harm that is caused by reckless and insensitive remarks, regardless of the intent.

Yes…it will be a good time when slurs about any people are not accepted in the world.  This is a good start!

Did you see the nominees for the People’s Choice Awards that were announced on Tuesday?  Some of the categories are interesting:

Being completely honest…. I don’t care…now, if they had Clay’s name on the list, I would be very interested!!  What about you??

Oh… one more thing I learned on Tuesday…  According to Wikipedia:

A stallion is a male horse that has not been gelded.

I also learned that stallions need oats!!  Oats are always the number one choice of grain in feeding horses.  Lets all make sure the stallion get his oats!!

  1. Well I feel more educated already 🙂 I always like the People's Choice awards, but it would be nice to see Clay there. Who knows maybe next year.
I'm so glad the Songs for Japan has raised so much money to help the people in Japan. That was such a horrible disaster that they're still trying to recover from.
It's funny to see Clay vindicated in the Wake Forest School Board situation. 🙂
Have a great day (hopefully with some Clay news.) Thanks for a great blog.

  2. Glad to see things are better for the Wake Forest S.D. – it should make Clay much happier!
Also that the music is helping the tradgedy in Japan. Not interested in Peoples Choice Awards
    either. Words definitely have meaning!!!!
I love Oatmeal !!! (not instant) 🙂 Hoping for news on anything "Clay"!!

  3. Well, it looks like that Stallion needs some more oats. Yippeeeee!!

Good to know about the New Democratic Majority will be charting Wake Schools issues for the schools. Maybe, they will move in the right direction.

I read about Brett Ratner stepping down as director for the 2012 Academy Awards. There is no room in there for anti-gay messages.

Glad to hear about the People's Choice Awards. I wish Clay was one of the nominee's. But, looks like the usual. But, you never know, he just might be there next year.

  4. Even when there is no Clay news, you find ways to educate us on many different subjects. Thanks musicfan!

  5. Glad to see the results from the Wake County School Board election. They had certainly taken a step back from the 21st century. Don't mess with success!

  6. This article is so full of information. I am so glad to read about the Songs for Japan raising so much money. That is great news! Also , I am sure also that the changes in the Wake County School Board put a big smile on Clay's face! I sure hope we hear something about Clay tomorrow!
I love oatmeal too-those oats are needed!

  7. Hi! You said you need some Clay news, lol – I saw some Celeb App news in this week's Globe (West Coast son't get new mags until Tuesday nites) — I know it's a rag, but it was a good mention, indirectly, for our guy. Dee broke his wrist (owwwww!!) so they wrote about it, and then listed all the contestants (thanks for your little bios, very fun and helpful), which now include Cheryl Teague! I don't think we knew about her before? I like her and loved her jeans, but gone now… Anyway, the article also says the men are doing great!

Thanks for all your interesting stories! Kathy in L.A

  8. Interesting stuff today. Thanks for the info.

I want to hear more about Clay and Celebrity Apprentice. I hope the tweeters are ready to report!

  9. Lots of information today Musicfan.. Thanks!

I'm sure Clay is thrilled about Wake County School Board.
I'm not interested in any award shows…until the day Clay is acknowledged and nominated. I look back to 2003, when Clay had the top selling single..and he never even got a nomination…I can't be bothered with any of it. His day will come though. Clay's is the only music that I can listen to 95% of the time.
It's wonderful to know that Clay is still in the running for CApp…He's doing great….but I never had a doubt.
