Clay Aiken – PBS and OMG!

Do you remember what you were doing on March 12, 2010?  For many Clay Aiken fans, this date will bring back memories of the taping of the PBS special at the Raleigh Memorial Auditorium.  The concert, lovingly called the “OMG” Concert was the beginning of a year of wonderful live music, a new CD and DVD and many PBS specials on TV.

The concert was polished, professional and classy.  Clay’s voice was phenomenal on the fresh arrangements of the timeless classics.

Clay opened the show with a rousing rendition of Mack The Knife and closed the show with a poignant version of Moon River. Each song chosen for the program allowed Clay to showcase his wonderful voice.  It is amazing how his voice soared on the variety of songs.  Each one highlighted his versatility and range.

I still find it impossible to describe Unchained Melody on this night. It started out slowly and emotional but then…as SueReu said:

…it likened to a 747 taking off or thunder that started in Clay’s toes and traveled through his body.

I feel lucky that I was able to be in the audience that night.  It is one of my favorite “Clay” moments!

I hope you enjoy these videos.

The first one has talking Clay, singing Clay, and pictures of Clay!!

 OMG!

  1. I for one, am looking forward to Clay's documentary on April 7th through the 10th. However, I will never forget the PBS special that aired on March 12th, 2010. My eyes were glued to the set. The performances were beyond words, and the OMG Unchained Melody brought me to tears. I have the CD/DVD collection and love watching it. I showed the video to my mother and she loved it even more; she couldn't believe there was a performer like Clay who has such a beautiful voice and sang songs she remembered from her past.
By the way Unchained Melody blew her away!
    Thank you, musicfan

  2. I was there too Martha and recently saw Unchained Melody that he sang that night. I STILL got goose bumps when I heard that roar he shared with us! WHOOSHHHHH!!! We were STUNNED!!! What the heck was THAT???? OMG OMG OMG! Hence the OMG concert, lol!! He said, "come to Chicago on March 12th" I think some got plane reservations before even KNOWING what we were going there for! Best night EVER!!

  3. Love the videos, I have the dvd of the concert, it's great! Clay is so talented, hope somehow I will be able to see the docuseries next month. Thanks Musicfan xo

  4. I drove to Raleigh to watch the taping. How exciting it was to sit in the audience and watch Clay wow the crowd with his incredible voice. I have the DVD of the performance, but also taped it when the program was shown on PBS here. It's good to know I can watch Clay any time I need a lift on a snowy, gray day.

  5. That was an OMG moment. I never saw this whole show. Just a few songs. I wish I was in that audience. Everyone was quiet and you could really hear him sing. Emily, you must have been in your glory! I wonder if it would still be somewhere in a PBS On Demand.

  6. The goosebumps are starting all over again after watching the videos on this site. All the memories they bring back! What a fantastic singer Clay is! How amazingly talented his fans are at creating all the videos that enable so many of us to follow his concerts etc. Thanks to everyone and to Clay!
