It is always a better day when we get a new tweet from Clay Aiken…so…Monday was a great day!
On Monday, Clay tweeted the following:
Dr. King said, “Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, ‘What are you doing for others?” – This #MLKDay what RU doing 2 serve others?
— Clay Aiken (@clayaiken) January 20, 2014
What an appropriate quote from Clay! I found it interesting that Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) tweeted the same quote.
On Sunday, January 19th, NBC Entertainment chairman, Robert Greenblatt said:
We’re very pleased to be underway on Peter Pan as our next live holiday musical for the whole family. In the hopes that lightning strikes twice, we think we’ve landed on another great Broadway musical — which ironically also starred Mary Martin — that is a timeless classic for all audiences, young and old, who just never want to grow up…
According to James Hibberd at Entertainment Weekly:
Who should play Peter, do you think? “I want Miley Cyrus,” Greenblatt joked (we think). The executive later hinted they’re more likely to cast a male lead even though the role has often been played by female actresses.
There were many reactions at varied entertainment sites about this idea. The following is one that I thought was interesting!?!:
NEWNOWNEXT – 7 Stars We Would Cast In NBC’s Upcoming Live “Peter Pan” Musical
3. Clay Aiken
How sneakily subversive would it be to have a gay man play a male role traditionally performed by a woman? Aiken toured with Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, so we know he has the chops, and this might convince him to give up his bid for Congress.
Even though the writer doesn’t have all the facts exactly correct, I think he was serious! What do you think?
As we are waiting for news from Clay Aiken, it has been fun going back and re-living some of the fun things that he has done in the last 11 years. Do you remember:
- Brad Pitt, George Clooney and Clay Aiken
- The blue sequined vest from high school
- “A Panty or two” and “Depends”
- Skipping to the front of the line at the DMV
- The original DMV picture
- Raleigh = Mayberry
If you remember these fun stories, you probably remember Clay Aiken visiting Jay Leno on January 21, 2004. Dressed in a light beige suit with a brown shirt, Clay’s interview with Leno was fun, relaxed and full of lots of laughs.
Clay closed the show with a beautiful rendition of “The Way.” The camera caught his beautiful smile at the end of the performance.
I have always enjoyed watching Clay on the Tonight Show. It’s been fun seeing Clay become more relaxed at each visit. I just hope that if Clay visits again, the script-writer comes up with a different introduction. It is hard to hear the same exact words each time.
Do you think Clay will be on The Tonight Show again?
It sure would be nice to see Clay on the Tonight Show again! Hey, soon it will be coming from NYC! Not too far for him to make that trip!!
Jay Leno is leaving the Tonight show in Feb. He's bringing back some of his guests from years past. I sure hope Clay is one of them. As for Clay as Peter Pan, I'd love it, but I don't think Clay would be willing to wear a pair of tights.
That is a great quote. What a wonderful world it would be if everyone helped each other.
I would love to see Clay in any show. I don’t think it will happen if he officially commits to running for office.
If it were Jay I would say yes we will see Clay in the tonight show. I’m not sure about Jimmy Fallin so I guess time will tell.
Well, if he is going to be on Jay Leno's Show, he better hurry because Jimmy Fallon will be the new host of the Tonight Show come Feb 8. Of course I would love to see him on any show. He is a great guest.
i hope jay brings clay back before jay leno leaves in febuary im not sure though about jimmy fallion and as for clay as peter pan im not sure id like that and i dont think that clay wold be willing to put on a pair of tights
