I received the following e-mail yesterday. I am so proud to support the National Inclusion Project in any way I can.
Please call your Public Television station’s Audience Services department and urge them to broadcast the film. And, what a good idea to host a screening party!
National Inclusion Project supports the PBS Release of Including Samuel
We are proud to partner with the creators of Including Samuel, a nationally acclaimed documentary by photojournalist Dan Habib, 2008 Champions of Change Honoree.
The film comes to public television in September and October (Disability Awareness Month) with support from the National Inclusion Project and CVS Caremark All Kids Can.
BROADCASTS ARE CURRENTLY SCHEDULED FOR THE FOLLOWING STATES:
Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Iowa, Indiana, Kansas, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, Wisconsin…and the list grows every week!
Go to www.includingsamuel.com for a regularly updated list of broadcasts and public screenings.
FILM SYNOPSIS:
Before his son Samuel was diagnosed with cerebral palsy, Habib rarely thought about the inclusion of people with disabilities. Now he thinks about inclusion every day. Including Samuel chronicles the Habib family’s efforts to include Samuel in every facet of their lives. The film honestly portrays his family’s hopes and struggles as well as the experiences of four other individuals with disabilities and their families. Including Samuel is a highly personal, passionately photographed film that captures the cultural and systemic barriers to inclusion.
HOST A FILM SCREENING PARTY!
The PBS Release of Including Samuel is a hallmark event for our mission of inclusion. Consider hosting a party for your friends and neighbors at your house or a larger venue that you have access to. This is a great opportunity to invite people who may not have a connection to inclusion yet in order to introduce to the concept and benefits.
Go to www.includingsamuel.com to:
- Watch the film trailer.
- Download the “Screening & Outreach Kit” with discussion questions, photos, templates for posters and invitations, and more.
- Download free material from the ‘Resources’ section which features published research, curriculum and articles on inclusion, plus links to dozens of organizations.
- Purchase the DVD. National Inclusion Project supporters and volunteers can receive a 10% discount off the individual DVD, and 20% off purchases of 6 DVDs or more, by using the coupon code IS10IP.
If you choose to host a party, please let us know so that we can send you information that you can hand out about the National Inclusion Project. If you organize a larger party as a community gathering, we will be happy to promote it by including it on our event calendar.
Thank you for your continued support!

I’m so proud of Clay Aiken and the National Inclusion Project for their support of this amazing film. I hope that by airing on Public Broadcasting it can reach a wide audience and that it will be yet another step toward the inclusion of all people in all facets of life.
Thanks!!
GREAT blog – so informative. I love it that the Hadid family’s story will be shown on PBS (perhaps a TV schedule for us may be helpful for those that don’t have the time to search ??).
Clay’s humanitarian “gifts” to the world are unparalleled in the industry; many, yes, can match his work and time, but there are so few that meet his standards.
Am I the only one who hopes that Clay makes his song “It’s every one of us” the anthem of National Inclusion Project?
Such an indepth song also offering hope, if we would just do a little, it will go a long way.
Congratulations to Clay on his NIP, and also gratitude for a great blog as always.
Including Samuel is a powerful documentary and I’m so proud Clay Aiken’s NIP, formerly The Bubel Aiken Foundation, has been instrumental in offerring this.
I am so happy to see that The National Inclusion Project is expanding and going into area’s like TV to spread the word about inclusion and what can be accomplished by it. I think it is a wonderful idea to show the documentary “Including Samuel.” I will be sure to watch it on my PBS Station. Very proud of Clay and everyone who works with The National Inclusion Project.
I’d love to see this! Did I miss an air date in the Chicagoland area??
Hope I did not see an airing in Chicago either. It is airing in other areas of IL, but it looks like not Chicago.
I wonder what can be done to get the message to them. I will have to look up who to contact.
I would really love to see this as well…I’m not sure if it will show in Canada, so I may have to purchase it…All for a good cause…
Hugs,
jUdy
I’m looking forward to the PBS airing of “including Samuel” in September. Awesome that Clay Aiken’s National Inclusion Program team is involved.
It’s so wonderful to see Clay Aiken’s charitable organization flourish. As wonderful as his career is, this is truly his best creation – well NIP and Parker – and not always in that order.
Wonderful to see Clay Aiken’s foundation involved with bringing “Including Samuel” to Public Broadcasting. I’m looking foward to seeing it when it airs on my local PBS station.
I love that Clay Aiken’s foundation is supporting this.
Got an email from one of my RI fan friends. RI was not on the list of states that would be showing the film. She emailed (or called) our public television station and it will be shown in RI. I believe the date is October 29th.
I am not sure about the air date here in Chicago, but I am
right here waiting. Just so proud to be a supporter!
Congratulations to the National Inclusion Project for reaching out!!!
Musicfan,
Thank you for the informative blog about the National Inclusion’s Project’s support for the outstandind documentary, “Including Samuel.”
Have a great weekend!
Caro
I am so proud of Clay and the National Inclusion Project for all the work they have done to promote inclusion, and for their efforts to bring attention to the need for inclusion of all people. This latest project, supporting “Including Samuel” to television and to a wider audience is a huge step in that direction. The Habib family are great ambassadors for the need of inclusion and their story is a compelling one. My only wish is that the PBS station in my area, Central Florida, would be airing this program. I have contacted two PBS stations in my area with my request.
I am really impressed that the National Inclusion Project is sponsoring this documentary on PBS. It really does show how far the foundation has come in its mission.
Our local chapter wants to host a screening party, but unfortunately it’s not scheduled to be aired locally. We’re hoping to figure something out.
I'm so very proud of Clay & Crew for all the wonderful work they do! Thank you. May God continue to bless you & yours.
Always with love,
Kelley
