Clay Aiken – Call Your Mom!

By musicfan123 · Comments 16210(3)http%3A%2F%2Fclaynewsnetwork.com%2F2012%2F05%2F13%2Fclay-aiken-call-your-mom%2FClay+Aiken+-+Call+Your+Mom%212012-05-13+07%3A28%3A31musicfan123http%3A%2F%2Fclaynewsnetwork.com%2F%3Fp%3D16210
Sunday, May 13th, 2012

The following announcement was posted on the Official Facebook Page of the NBC Universal Store.

Rose Kennedy once said, “I looked on child-rearing not only as a work of love and duty, but as a profession that was fully as interesting and challenging as any honorable profession in the world, and one that demanded the best that I could bring it.”

Mother’s Day in the United States is annually held on the second Sunday of May. It celebrates motherhood and it is a time to appreciate mothers and mother figures. Many people give gifts, cards, flowers, candy, a meal in a restaurant or other treats to their mother and mother figures, including grandmothers, great-grandmothers, stepmothers, and foster mothers.

Here are a few fun facts about Mothers

  • The first official celebration of mothers in the United States took place in 1858.
  • From Australia to Zimbabwe, more than sixty countries celebrate Mother’s Day together with Americans on the second Sunday in May.
  • More than 83 million mothers are living in the United States, according to the US Census Bureau.
  • Nearly 96% of all Americans participate in Mother’s Day celebrations in some way. Mother’s Day is the peak day for long distance carriers.
  • Mother’s Day is the second biggest gift-giving holiday in America, preceded only by Christmas. The National Retail Foundation estimates that Americans will spend more than $14 billion a year on Mother’s Day.
  • Mr. Roger’s mom knit him many of the sweaters he wore on the set of his popular children’s television show.
  • Elephant moms gestate their calves for 22 months. Thankfully, human babies are born after 37 to 42 weeks.

Even though Clay Aiken will be very busy today, I would imagine that there are two very special Moms that will hear from him today.

The mother of your child always has a special place in your life.

Happy Mother’s Day to Jaymes!

It doesn’t matter how old you are,

your own mother is always a part of your life.

Happy Mother’s Day to Faye!

Clay Aiken – It’s Sunday!!

By musicfan123 · Comments 15247(9)http%3A%2F%2Fclaynewsnetwork.com%2F2012%2F03%2F18%2Fclay-aiken-its-sunday%2FClay+Aiken+-+It%27s+Sunday%21%212012-03-18+09%3A24%3A33musicfan123http%3A%2F%2Fclaynewsnetwork.com%2Findex.php%3Fp%3D15247
Sunday, March 18th, 2012

Today is Sunday and it will only be a few hours until we see Clay Aiken on TV.  It seems that Celebrity Apprentice has made Sunday the best day of the week.  As we count down the minutes, there are a few things that happened that are fun to think about.

Clay had a chance to meet up with his friend, Tyra Banks.  She was in Raleigh in her role as Keynote Speaker of  Women’s Empowerment 2012.

According to the PNC Arena/ Radio One site:

Women’s Empowerment is a high energy, high profile event that targets African-American women of all ages and is attended by as many as 18,000 Radio One listeners…

…The event will feature a noteworthy motivational speech by a nationally recognized speaker. This year’s keynote speaker will be model, actress, media personality and author Tyra Banks. Banks is highly-recognized for her successful television shows “America’s Next Top Model” and “The Tyra Banks Show” and has been acknowledged as one of the most successful models of her generation.

Created in March 1994, in honor of Women’s History Month, Women’s Empowerment was designed to enhance the lives of African-American women by addressing issues that specifically impact their health, relationship and overall lifestyle.  Women’s Empowerment began in 1994 as a way to celebrate Women’s History Month, and although the event aims to empower women, it is not uncommon for men to attend.

Well, Clay Aiken was there to support his friend, Tyra and tweeted the following picture during a break.

The magazine, Maxim has a feature called 24 Hours To Live.  In their April, 2012 edition, they ask Adam Carolla some questions.  There are two questions that relate to Celebrity Apprentice:

Guy’s Guy and the Celebrity Apprentice contestant Adam Carolla has a podcast, a memoir, a brand-new app…and one last day…..

Which celebrity apprentice cast member would you most hate to be stuck with for all eternity?

Clay Aiken. He’s such a nice guy and one hell of a singer. If we were together for eternity, eventually I’d go gay for him.

What would your last words be to Donald Trump?

The people from the Make-A-Wish Foundation assured me that it would be OK to have sex with your daughter.

You can see the entire interview at MAXIM

I received an e-mail about the up-coming Clay Aiken Fan Fest.  It seem that this annual event is growing each year.  It is a great event that raises much needed funds for The National Inclusion Project while Clay Aiken fans have a wonderful time.

This year, the event will take place on May 19-20, 2012, at the Yorktowne Hotel in York, PA.  The theme for the week-end is And The Beat Goes On…Jukebox Revisited.  There is a special “Viewing Party” on Sunday, the 20th so that the fans can watch Clay on Celebrity Apprentice together.

Be sure and visit FANFEST  to find out about all the up-dates,  including information about the Fan Raffle, a special Raffle for VIP Gala tickets and the Viewing Party.  Cookie needs to know if you are planning on attending the event as she needs to confirm the plans with the venue in April.

The following is a picture of a beautiful Holiday Wreath made by Faye Parker that will be available for bids at the Fan Raffle.

This event sounds like so much fun.  Why do I live on the other side of the country?  I wish I could be there to participate in all the fun and support The National Inclusion Project too!

~

Are your ready for the 5th episode of Celebrity Apprentice?  Who is going to be in the middle of all the shouting this week?

How are you all doing today after such an amazing event this week-end?

For those of you who were in attendance, is it Cloud 9 or The OMG GALA ? The entire Gala experience was beyond words.

For those of you who experienced the Gala through the wonderful reports and “red messages”, I am sure you are thanking your friends for trying to use  words to help you experience the event in a different way.

I am still on my way home and my brain is still working on over-time as I try to recall every little thing that made my smile bigger and bigger.  There is so much to say, but today…just a few random thoughts…

I loved…

1.   Traveling again with my dear friends and sharing a room, our thoughts and our friendship.

2.   Meeting and sharing hugs with internet friends.  No one is ever alone at a Clay Aiken event.

3.   Seeing so many volunteers that put in hours to make the event run smoothly.

4.   Seeing the excitement from the entire staff of the National Inclusion Project.  Their enthusiasm is contagious!

5.   The bus tour of the Raleigh area.  It was loads of fun.  A big thank you to Lori Finney for putting this together.

6.   Seeing the charming Lynda Loveland again.  She has been such a great friend to the Project and to Clay.

7.   The presentation on Sunday morning by Aron Hall.  He had us all on our feet, learning about inclusion by participating both mentally and physically.

8.   Seeing the smile on Kristys face as she greeted all of us.  She makes a person feel welcome.

9.  Diane Bubel, Jerry Aiken, and Faye Parker…even after the many hours of preparing for the event, they were charming and friendly to all of us.

10. Ben Cohn…his talent is remarkable. His arrangements are always exciting and he always seems to put a new twist to the songs.

11. Learning about the outstanding accomplishments of Chris Burke, Kevin Connolly, and Walgreens.  You all give us hope!

12. Quiana Parler…Wow..this girl can sing.  Please come back to another Gala!

13. Clay Aiken…Thank you for being who you are!  You put on the perfect concert for your fans.  Each song selection seemed to be picked with care and you seemed to sing from your heart. And look at what a huge difference you have made in the lives of so many people.  Your work with The National Inclusion Project has changed the world and kids everywhere will feel your love and commitment.

Well…my few comments seemed to grow.  Can you tell I am still excited about the Gala?

Safe travels to all. I hope we can share our thoughts together soon.  2012 is going to be a fabulous year to be a Clay Aiken Fan!

Words of Wisdom by Clay Aiken

Yes…Clay Aiken has something to say!!

“Use your voice.”

“I’m really not that special. Really, I’m not. I was on a big TV show, but it was just a TV show.”

“Pain happens to everyone. To grow up, to fulfill your potential, to develop into what God wants you to be–this process takes support. No one succeeds alone.”

“A song is like a smile. If you meet people from another country, even if you don’t speak the same language, you know what a smile means. A song works the same way. Music produces feelings that need no translation.”

“You don’t have to be around people you are related to be with family.”

“There is no better exercise for strengthening the heart than reaching down and lifting people up…The Bubel/Aiken Foundation is the culmination of that realization. It is my purpose now. It is the why of me.”

“Singing in front of a stadium of fans is wonderful, but it pales in comparison to being embraced by a child.”

“I believe that in every life there is a song to be sung.”

“It’s about damn time!”

“Thank you.”

Clay Aiken – Happy Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day is a time of commemoration and celebration for all Moms. It is a time of breakfast in bed, family gatherings, and crayon scribbled “I Love You’s”

Clay Aiken has lots of “mothers” that he adores. There are two that will probably get extra attention this year.

The mother of your child always has a special place in your life. Happy Mother’s Day to Jaymes!

It doesn’t matter how old you are, your own mother is always a part of your life. Happy Mother’s Day to Faye!

Clay Aiken Has A Mom Who Rocks!!

By musicfan123 · Comments 10299(6)http%3A%2F%2Fclaynewsnetwork.com%2F2011%2F05%2F06%2Fclay-aiken-has-a-mom-who-rocks%2FClay+Aiken+Has+A+Mom+Who+Rocks%21%212011-05-06+07%3A18%3A46musicfan123http%3A%2F%2Fwww.claynewsnetwork.com%2F%3Fp%3D10299
Friday, May 6th, 2011

When Clay Aiken is taking his much-needed break I seem to spend time looking for fun Clay moments that I can share.  Today, I am sharing something that I almost completely forgot about.  Do you remember this??

May 6th, 2004

The Early Show did a week, celebrating Moms of famous singers.   On May 6th, the show honored Faye Parker. Faye looked lovely in a green sweater and talked proudly of Clay.  She shared lots of pictures and videos.  It was a great program.

CBS not only showed the interview on TV, but wrote about the show and interview on their website. They also left a great video of the event.  The following is from CBS as they wrote about the show.

A Mom Who Rocks!

Though the spotlight shines brightly on their superstar kids, hard at work behind the scenes are the superstar moms.

The Early Show correspondent Melinda Murphy reports on one of the newest on the scene — Clay Aiken. He and his mother are just getting used to his newfound fame.

Clay Aiken’s new song, “Proud of Your Boy,” is a part of the special edition DVD of “Aladdin,” which he says is a great way to show appreciation for moms. (That DVD will be not be available until Oct. 5.)

“It’s kind of a neat song because it talks a lot about Aladdin with his mother,” Aiken says. “So singing that is kind of neat for me because I think everybody wants to make their mother proud of them.”

And Clay Aiken has definitely done that.

“I am his number one fan, even if the fans say they’re number one,” Faye Parker, Aiken’s mother, says with a laugh. “I’m sorry. They have to get in line.”

Parker raised her son in Raleigh, N.C. His childhood home is now filled with proof of his success, such as his double-platinum album award for “Measure of the Man.”

The album has now gone triple-platinum, which Aiken says he couldn’t have done without his mom.

“My mother is my idol,” says Aiken. “She’s the person I’ve seen on a daily basis, who maneuver all that life brings you — whether it be good stuff or bad stuff.”

And there has been plenty of both. When Aiken was just a year old, Faye Parker left his abusive, alcoholic father. And for the next five years, she raised Aiken on her own before eventually getting remarried and having another son.

“One of the things she’s really taught me is to take every experience that you have, even the ones you just want to forget, and really learn from them,” says Aiken.

It is a lesson Parker continues to teach.

She says, “The main thing that I would like to say to women is that you are not there to be somebody’s stepping stone or to be somebody’s punching bag. You can get a life, and you can go on, and you don’t have to live like that.”

Parker is living proof of that. So is Aiken.

Just a few years ago, Aiken was practically invisible. But things have definitely changed.

Parker takes it upon herself to check phone calls and lots of mail. In fact, Aiken gets so much fan mail that his mother now has a special room for it above the garage.

Also, there are Aiken dolls, Aiken drawings and Aiken crafts.

Of course, not everybody is so supportive.

“He had a lot of publicity about, ‘Is Clay gay?’” says Parker. “You have to make up your mind if you’re going to get your feelings hurt. I know what’s true. God knows what’s true. And it doesn’t matter what other people think.”

Most seem to think Aiken is great, including his hometown’s museum.

The museum has clothing worn by Clay Aiken when he performed “I Can’t Help Myself.”

Parker notes, “I remember when he did that, there were some ladies at my house that night and he did that little motion — the sugar pie honey bunch. I thought these ladies were going to go crazy. I said, ‘Ladies, that’s my son. Cool it!’”

Aiken may be a sex symbol now, but he wasn’t always so cool.

“He comes in one day with a permanent. Oh, that was awful, terrible,” laughs Parker. “He wore that perm for two years, deliberately, because mom didn’t like it. A few people told him he looked cute. And I said, ‘Honey, your mother will tell you the truth.’”

“Mom always thinks she’s the most honest,” says Aiken. “She’ll tell me if my shoes are ugly or if a song is bad, which I don’t know that I like that much really.”

Before he was sheik, Aiken was a bit of a geek. And some even said he was a mama’s boy.

“He probably is a mama’s boy, but you know he’s not overly mama’s boy that people think strange things about,” laughs Parker.

But in the end, being a mama’s boy isn’t such a bad thing.

“She’s been my rock, she’s been the shoulder I’ve cried on,” says Aiken. “She’s been the most supportive person, the least supportive person in times when I needed somebody to tell me to straighten out. And I would not be here today if it were not for her in so many ways.”

What are some of the perks of having a famous son? Faye Parker says she bought herself a new car and paid off her house.

What a nice, positive write-up.  The Early Show has always been kind and supportive to Clay.

Clay Aiken – A Class Act Amid the Crass

By musicfan123 · Comments 10119(7)http%3A%2F%2Fclaynewsnetwork.com%2F2010%2F12%2F10%2Fclay-aiken-a-class-act-amid-the-crass%2FClay+Aiken+-+A+Class+Act+Amid+the+Crass2010-12-10+08%3A05%3A19musicfan123http%3A%2F%2Fwww.claynewsnetwork.com%2F%3Fp%3D10119
Friday, December 10th, 2010

On 12/10/03 Clay Aiken appeared on the 2003 Billboard Awards Show. For an artist who was new the professional music scene, Clay played a prominent role in the evening gala. Ryan Seacrest was the host of the evening and he had Clay help with the opening of the show.

The Billboard Music Awards are held annually and are always in December.  Much like the American Music Awards, the winners are chosen on popularity.  The awards are given out based on the Billboard year-end music charts.  Some of the categories are top selling album, top selling artist and top selling single.

Clay was introduced by the irritating Kathy Griffin and performed Invisible to an enthusiastic audience.  After the performance, Clay was presented with the award for the best selling single of the year.

Clay was accompanied to the BMA Award show by his mother, Faye.  They both looked wonderful as they walked down the Red Carpet in Las Vegas and Clay was stopped many times by the press.

It was wonderful to see Clay win the Billboard Award and his performance was amazing.  However, there were some “interesting” things that went on that night.  Pathetic Kathy Griffin thought she was funny in her introduction of Clay, but most of Clay’s fans didn’t find it amusing.  Add to the list of negatives was the vulgar jokes by Dave Grohl and Triumph the Wonder Dog.  They really were “Crass” as they joked about Clay.

The following video shows Clay’s introduction, his performance of Invisible and his acceptance speech…no Dogs allowed!!

Please don’t forget to add your Christmas song choices. We need your input!!

Quote of the Day

It is not always about performance art, but about receiving positive energy from people with positive spirits. Sometimes we can see someone's spirit, and those are the people with great energy. Those are the people that get me through the day, especially on Broadway. -Clay Aiken
