Clay Aiken – Creating A Buzz

By musicfan123 · Comments 16067(8)http%3A%2F%2Fclaynewsnetwork.com%2F2012%2F05%2F04%2Fclay-aiken-creating-a-buzz%2FClay+Aiken+-+Creating+A+Buzz2012-05-04+08%3A17%3A33musicfan123http%3A%2F%2Fclaynewsnetwork.com%2F%3Fp%3D16067
Friday, May 4th, 2012

On Thursday, the Internet was buzzing about multi-talented Clay Aiken.  His name and information about him could be found in many different categories.  It seems this young man is creating a buzz all over the Internet.

Clay’s name was linked with Dee Snider.  Dee’s newest album drops next Tuesday and the reviews are beginning to pop up.  The album titled Dee Does Broadway, is filled with familiar songs and features many singers in duets with the Twisted Sister star.

One of the first reviews to reach the Internet is on The Dallas Voice.com and is very positive.  I loved what they said about Dee’s duet with Clay Aiken:

I waited with anticipation for track 8, “Luck Be a Lady Tonight.” Teaming with Clay Aiken, this is the musical equivalent of The Twilight Zone. The song starts off gently only to screech into high gear. The juxtaposition is a fun one. Aiken clearly wins in the slower intro, but he holds his own against

Snider’s shrill vocals. Aiken can actually belt out a heavy metal tune and sounds in the vein of Ozzy Osbourne or Don Dokken. The potential that this song could have been a train wreck is easily dismissed and it turns out to be the best track on the album.

Congratulations to Dee and Clay.  I can’t wait to hear the song on Tuesday.  To read the entire article about Dee Does Broadway, click DALLASVOICE.

Clay has been a friend and supporter of the Caregiver Magazine since 2005.  Clay was a keynote speaker at their conference and a recipient of the Robert M. Barg Memorial Achievement Award in 2005.

On Thursday, the organization announced the Henry Winkler would receive the Magazine’s Rare Advocacy Award on May 24th.  In the article, they did mention Clay.  What a wonderful group of people who are named as previous winners and what an honor to be a part of the group.  The following was posted:

Today’s Caregiver magazine and http://www.Caregiver.com, the nation’s foremost print magazine and Web community educating, training and supporting family and professional caregivers since 1995, will present the Robert M. Barg Memorial Achievement Award to actor, director, author and producer, Henry Winkler during the May 24th Western Connecticut Fearless Caregiver Conference in Southbury Connecticut. “This prestigious award has only been presented to a select few caregiver advocates in the organization’s 17 year history who represent a special brand of kindness and advocacy and whose hard work truly makes a difference in the lives of those in need,” said Gary Barg, founder and editor-in-chief of the first national magazine for caregivers, Today’s Caregiver magazine, http://www.caregiver.com, and the Fearless Caregiver Conferences. Prior recipients of the Robert M. Barg Memorial Achievement Award include Debbie Reynolds, Clay Aiken, Della Reese, Robert Urich, Leeza Gibbons, Clay Walker, Patricia Richardson and Linda Dano.

It is wonderful to know that the name of Clay Aiken will always be a part of this list.  More information can be found at the links in the article.

Theatermania is a group that writes about the top headlines in the field of theater.  On Thursday they announced that:

Cast members from the Tony and Drama Desk-nominated Broadway musical Newsies will join the previously reported recording star Clay Aiken and Tony nominee Montego Glover at Family Equality Council’s Night at the Pier celebration in New York City on Tuesday, May 8.

The event will feature Broadway-themed performances in honor of the 30th anniversary of Family Equality Council – the national organization that connects, supports and represents the one million parents in the U.S. who are lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT).

Aiken is currently featured on NBC’s Celebrity Apprentice. He is perhaps best known for his appearances on FOX’s American Idol, and was seen on Broadway in Monty Python’s Spamalot, playing the role of Sir Robin. Glover received at Tony nomination for her performance as Felicia Farrell in Memphis.

I certainly wish I could be at this wonderful event.  I always love to hear Clay sing and I would love to hear some of the music from Newsies.

CarterMatt.com is a site that reports and reviews TV shows.  They have reported on Celebrity Apprentice after each episode.

Today, the site published an article titled; Clay Aiken fights against Internet hate

The writer says:

Clay Aiken knows one thing by now after years of dealing with the public’s reaction to his sexuality — how to be comfortable in your own skin, and not give in to some of the bigotry and hate that often comes in your direction based on people with no right to judge.

The writer quoted Clay in the article:

“I occasionally retweet some folks just 2 highlight their ignorance & stupidity. I certainly don’t take offense from [stuff] said by idiots!”

I am glad that CarterMatt wrote about this important topic.  Internet bullies and paid bullies are getting out of hand!

NBC/Celebrity Apprentice posted an album of pictures from last Sunday’s show titled Jingle All The Way.  You can see the pictures at NBCPICTURES

It is exciting to see Clay Aiken articles throughout the Internet.  I do believe that people are falling in love with him all over again!

Which one of these topics do you think is the best for Clay?

It is amazing how quickly sound bites are used and manipulated in the “news” industry.   On Wednesday, this was proven by the thousands of headlines that were found on the Internet.  At last look, there are 23,700 articles listed on Google regarding Clay and his comments about Rihanna and his “Plastic Surgery.”  The list of words and phrases in the headlines include:

Bash…Bizarre Feud…Diss…Enemy Alert…Slam…Jabs…

I guess none of the writers watched the show!   Please…give me a break.

So, to keep my sanity, I finally had to stay away from seeking out news about Clay on the Internet.

Lets have some fun today…Clay has been on TV so much in the last couple of weeks. With each appearance, he seems to look handsome, but a bit different from the last.  Which one of these pictures do you like the most?

Clay Aiken – His Numbers Make History!

Did you watch the Super Bowl on Sunday?  If so, you were one of the 111.3 million viewers that made Super Bowl XLVI the most-watched network broadcast in television history.  Most viewers watched for the exciting football game, but others wanted to see the half-time show while some just wanted to see the expensive commercials.

NBC, the home of the Super Bowl broadcast had more to celebrate on Sunday.  Right after the presentation of the Vince Lombardi Trophy, NBC’s singing competition, The Voice, premiered its second season.  The show scored the highest ratings of any entertainment telecast in six years.

The headlines were all over.  NBC wanted everyone to know that they were successful and that they had a hit show this year.  If you searched The Voice on the Internet, you would find over 41,000 articles about the viewer ship numbers on Sunday night.  The Voice” scored 37.6 million total viewers overall, according to TheWrap.com.

BUT…WAIT…Let’s think back to May 21, 2003, the Finale of Season2 of American Idol.  The amazing show broke all records too.  According to an article by Robert Abele in Variety:

The finale, which crowned Studdard the winner by a narrow margin, was seen by 38.1 million people, Idol’s highest single-episode rating to date. Single-handedly “Idol” lifted Fox to third place for the entire season, a first. Little more proof was needed that the network had a juggernaut on its hands.

It seems that Clay Aiken and Ruben Studdard set a great record for viewer ship…38.1 million people!!!  They will be known, not only for their wonderful voices, but also for starring in one of the most watched, non-sports shows in television history.  I wonder how many Internet articles could be found about the AI Finale on May 22nd.

The excitement continues!  Clay Aiken’s name is everywhere on the Internet.  In preparation for posting, I visited Google.  I typed in Clay Aiken and limited it to posts in the last 24 hour. The following is what I found:

About 109,000 results (0.11 seconds

Yes…everyone wants to know about Clay Aiken!! Most of the headlines on the Internet that talk about Celebrity Apprentice, mention Clay Aiken and Debbie Gibson…but they almost always show a picture of Clay (By the way, where are all the new pictures of Clay?)

I remember Debbie Gibson’s name…but I will admit that I knew very little about her…I wanted to know more.  I found the following information on Debbie’s Internet Site.  You can find lots of information HERE

Gibson exploded on the pop music scene at the tender age of 16. A music prodigy, she quickly became the youngest person ever to write, produce and perform a number one single, (“Foolish Beat”), a record she still holds today in the Guinness Book of World Records. To date, Gibson has sold more than 16 million albums worldwide.

To fill her passion of mentoring and fostering young performers and songwriters, she created “Debbie Gibson’s Electric Youth,” a series of performing arts camps and music bootcamps. In addition, she formed the “Gibson Girl Foundation,” a non-profit organization that awards scholarships and musical educational opportunities to underprivileged children who display talent and have a desire to participate in performing arts programs.

In 2010, Gibson made her debut in the world of orchestration. She collaborated on both the score and the powerful closing credits song, “Rise,” for Dr. Rutledge’s documentary, “3 Billion and Counting,” about Malaria prevention in third world countries. Gibson guest starred in “Cirque Dreams Jungle Fantasy” at MGM/Foxwoods. The “Original Pop Princess” also released a new album, “Ms. Vocalist,” from Sony Japan that was top 10 on the Billboard charts and the first single, “I Love You,” hit No. 1.

As the new spokesperson for Children International, she spent time in early 2011 in impoverished villages in Manila. For more than 20 years, she has been a child sponsor and advocate. Gibson also starred with Tiffany in the SyFy hit “Mega Python Vs. Gatoroid.” Recently, she shot a cameo in the upcoming film “Rock of Ages,” appeared in Katy Perry’s hit music video for “Last Friday Night (TGIF),” and took a Took a Journey Through the 80′s on a sold out tour with Tiffany. Currently, Gibson’s recording a new U.S. album. The first single “Rise,” which was shortlisted for an Academy Award nomination, is now available on iTunes.

From number one hits and platinum albums to starring roles on Broadway, film and TV, Gibson is a true entertainer with talent and charisma.

Now, that is an impressive biography.  I am really glad that  I learned so much about this lady.  She is an award winning musician and someone who wants to make the world a better place for everyone!!  Now I am looking forward to watching her on Celebrity Apprentice.

Do you remember seeing this picture of Debbie and Clay?  She attended the Timeless Tour at Foxwoods.  Its fun that she got to visit with Clay.

Clay Aiken – Laptop In Tow

By musicfan123 · Comments 7493(5)http%3A%2F%2Fclaynewsnetwork.com%2F2009%2F12%2F27%2Fclay-aiken-laptop-in-tow%2FClay+Aiken+-+Laptop+In+Tow2009-12-27+07%3A44%3A57musicfan123http%3A%2F%2Fwww.claynewsnetwork.com%2F%3Fp%3D7493
Sunday, December 27th, 2009

We have often seen Clay Aiken with his laptop in tow.  It seems to be a vital part of his life.  Just like many adults, he seems to count on the computer to help him in his every day life.  But, does Clay use the internet to do research and talk to his friends on FaceBook?

Harris Interactive, one of the world’s leading custom market research firms, just published the results of a poll about internet use.  The results are very interesting.

The poll found that adult Internet users are now spending an average of 13 hours a week online.  Of course, usage varies greatly among people; 20% of adult Internet users are online for only two hours or less a week while 14% are spending 24 or more hours a week online.

Over the years the average hours spent online have increased from 7 hours in 1999.  In 2007, it increased to 11 hours.  Last year, after the financial crisis broke and before the presidential election, Internet users were online for 14 hours a week, double what it was from 1999 to 2002.

Other interesting findings in this Harris Poll include:

·         The age groups that spend the most time online are those aged 30-39 (18 hours) and those aged 25-29 (17 hours) and 40-49 (17 hours).

·         50% of all those online bought something on the Internet in the last month.  This includes 62% of those aged 30-39 and 56% of those aged 40-49.

·         The number of adults online, now 184 million (80%), has not changed significantly since 2008 and 2007.  This includes those online at work, at home, at school or any other locations.

·         However, the number of adults who are online at home has increased to 76% this year, and 75% last year, compared to 66% in 2005.

There are many reasons for the increase in the number of hours spent online.  According to Harris, it probably reflects a growing ability to use the Internet, an increase in sites and applications, increased TV watching on-line and increased purchasing online.  They also suggest that hours online may have increased because of the recession.  Going online is free while going out usually costs money.

When I read the results of this poll, I decided that no Clay fans were included in the poll.  I know that all fans are not fanatics when using the internet, but I also know that many are on-line checking more than one board each day.

Does your time on the internet fit into the norm as stated by Harris or do you spend more or less time on the internet?

And, what about Clay? Do you think he fits the norm?

According to their site:

This Harris Poll was conducted by telephone within the United States July 7 and 12 and October 13 and 18, 2009 among 2,029 adults (aged 18 and over). Figures for age, sex, race/ethnicity, education, region, number of adults in the household, number of phone lines in the household were weighted where necessary to bring them into line with their actual proportions in the population.

Known widely for the Harris Poll and for pioneering innovative research methodologies, Harris offers expertise in a wide range of industries. Harris Interactive serves clients in over 215 countries and territories throughout North America, Europe, and Asia. For more information, please visit www.harrisinteractive.com.

Quote of the Day

It is not always about performance art, but about receiving positive energy from people with positive spirits. Sometimes we can see someone's spirit, and those are the people with great energy. Those are the people that get me through the day, especially on Broadway. -Clay Aiken
