How are you all doing today after such an amazing event this week-end?

For those of you who were in attendance, is it Cloud 9 or The OMG GALA ? The entire Gala experience was beyond words.

For those of you who experienced the Gala through the wonderful reports and “red messages”, I am sure you are thanking your friends for trying to use  words to help you experience the event in a different way.

I am still on my way home and my brain is still working on over-time as I try to recall every little thing that made my smile bigger and bigger.  There is so much to say, but today…just a few random thoughts…

I loved…

1.   Traveling again with my dear friends and sharing a room, our thoughts and our friendship.

2.   Meeting and sharing hugs with internet friends.  No one is ever alone at a Clay Aiken event.

3.   Seeing so many volunteers that put in hours to make the event run smoothly.

4.   Seeing the excitement from the entire staff of the National Inclusion Project.  Their enthusiasm is contagious!

5.   The bus tour of the Raleigh area.  It was loads of fun.  A big thank you to Lori Finney for putting this together.

6.   Seeing the charming Lynda Loveland again.  She has been such a great friend to the Project and to Clay.

7.   The presentation on Sunday morning by Aron Hall.  He had us all on our feet, learning about inclusion by participating both mentally and physically.

8.   Seeing the smile on Kristys face as she greeted all of us.  She makes a person feel welcome.

9.  Diane Bubel, Jerry Aiken, and Faye Parker…even after the many hours of preparing for the event, they were charming and friendly to all of us.

10. Ben Cohn…his talent is remarkable. His arrangements are always exciting and he always seems to put a new twist to the songs.

11. Learning about the outstanding accomplishments of Chris Burke, Kevin Connolly, and Walgreens.  You all give us hope!

12. Quiana Parler…Wow..this girl can sing.  Please come back to another Gala!

13. Clay Aiken…Thank you for being who you are!  You put on the perfect concert for your fans.  Each song selection seemed to be picked with care and you seemed to sing from your heart. And look at what a huge difference you have made in the lives of so many people.  Your work with The National Inclusion Project has changed the world and kids everywhere will feel your love and commitment.

Well…my few comments seemed to grow.  Can you tell I am still excited about the Gala?

Safe travels to all. I hope we can share our thoughts together soon.  2012 is going to be a fabulous year to be a Clay Aiken Fan!

Clay Aiken – Brilliant, Clever, and Resourceful

By musicfan123 · Comments 12028(9)http%3A%2F%2Fclaynewsnetwork.com%2F2011%2F09%2F15%2Fclay-aiken-brilliant-clever-and-resourceful%2FClay+Aiken+-+Brilliant%2C+Clever%2C+and+Resourceful2011-09-15+08%3A32%3A27musicfan123http%3A%2F%2Fclaynewsnetwork.com%2F%3Fp%3D12028

The more one learns about Clay Aiken, the more you realize that he is brilliant, clever and resourceful…and he has been that way long before he became a household name.

On Wednesday I was doing some research for a friend and I went to YouTube, hoping to find some information.  BIG MISTAKE!!  Somehow it is easy to get lost in YouTube.  It is a font of so much information.  You can stay there for hours!!

I found some videos of Clay Aiken that I had no idea ever existed…I thought I was somewhat up-to-date on Aiken News…but it seems I missed a lot.

Did you know that the shrewd Mr. Aiken contacted the local Raleigh media outlets when he returned from his audition in Atlanta, Georgia?  Clay auditioned in Atlanta on October 22, 2002. Upon the return to his home, he contacted the media to see if anyone was interested in his American Idol journey.  Within a few days, Lynda Loveland visited Clay at his home in Raleigh and recorded an interview.  He related the story of his Atlanta audition and even sang a few lines from Over The Rainbow and Always and Forever.  On November 2nd, about 10 days after Clay arrived home, WRAL broadcast the first video.

WRAL must have gotten a great response to the interview because the station covered Clay throughout his American Idol journey.  The station broadcast at least 7 different videos of Clay on the show…and Lynda Loveland even covered the finale live, in Hollywood.

The following video is loads of fun to see.  The quality is rather bad, but seeing Clay tell his story is exciting.

Fun, isn’t it?  If any of you have any videos of the WRAL shows from 2003, I would love to include them in a CANN blog.  Please e-mail me at musicfan@claynewsnetwork.com

For fans of Clay Aiken, Sunday was an exciting day.  Knowing that Clay was going to perform the National Anthem at the NHL All-Star game brought a lot of fun to the day.

Clay did an amazing job of singing at the game.  He sang with confidence and his voice was “spot-on.”  It was a joy to watch Clay perform and see the positive reaction from the players and the fans.

I took some time to check out some comments from fans and non-fans at many different sites on the internet.  I thought it might be fun to post some of them.

Clay nailed the song. His voice was perfect.  I love Clay and I’m so happy to be a fan of his.

STUNNING PERFORMANCE OF THE SSB!!!!! This man can SING. He has truly been given a BEAUTIFUL VOCAL INSTRUMENT. This is how our National Anthem should be Performed….. Kudos Mr. Aiken!!

I thought Clay did an excellent rendition of our national anthem. It must be so hard to sing with that major echo in the arena. Props to him for pulling it off. I may have to check out his tour.

No doubt about it — Raleigh should be proud of their hometown guy — Clay Aiken — I know I am — he loves and promotes his hometown all the time — he sure did a fabulous job for them today — SSB was tremendous. Thank you, Clay!

I am a huge hockey fan and was surprised to have Clay Aiken’s name appear while I was researching game facts. Listened to the video. WOW, forgot what a beautiful voice he has.

Clay did an amazing job on the National Anthem. He is a talented man and I am glad that many people were reminded of his great voice.

I can’t wait to see him on tour next month!

Saw it live. The announcer was spot on when he said, “Impressive.”
Clay Aiken can SING–does a beautiful rendition of the SSB.  Looking forward to that tour.

Clay Aiken – Birthday Greetings

Dear Clay – - -

Thinking of you with love on your birthday

and

wishing you everything that brings you

happiness

today and always!

In the past few years, Clay Aiken has been very busy on his birthdays.  In 2004, Clay  helped Light Up the Rockefeller Christmas tree.  In 2008, Clay was starring in Spamalot on Broadway.  In 2006, Clay gave Lynda Loveland a tour of his new home in North Carolina………well, at least the tour was on TV on his birthday.  For two of Clay’s birthdays, he was performing on tour.  In 2007, Clay performed in Kalamazoo, MI and in 2005, he performed The Joyful Noise Tour in Reading, PA.

The audience in Reading was ready to party  with Clay in 2005.  The audience had paper birthday hats, glow sticks and even gave Clay a huge “pointy hat” that was signed by some fans.  The following video shows the fun at the end of the concert in Reading.  The best part is towards the end when Clay actually wears the birthday hat.

As we enjoy the video, I hope that Clay is enjoying his special day, surrounded by his family and friends.  I am sure each one of us wishes him the very best!!!

Clay Aiken – Believe

Sunday, October 18th, 2009

Last evening, at the Marriott in Raleigh, North Carolina, The National Inclusion Project celebrated their annual Champions Gala and benefit dinner.  The sold out event was filled with love, friendship, pride of accomplishment and wonderful music.

For the third time, Lynda Loveland served as the host for the event.  She did an excellent job.  Lynda was moved to tears more than once as she listened and watched the stories of the honorees of the evening.

Diane Bubel’s speech was wonderful.  She was heartfelt and professional as she reported on some of the accomplishments of the National Inclusion Project and let us know what was in the future.

A high-light of the evening was the announcement that the National Inclusion Project won the Christie Cookie contest.  A check was presented just prior to the event and the representative from the company was amazed at what she learned as she watched the program.

The honorees were amazing.  Sarah Cronk and Sarah Herr founded the Sparkle Effect.  They recognized that students with disabilities don’t just want to cheer, they want to fit in.  Sarah’s presentation at the Gala was polished and showed all of us that teens have a lot to give to society and that they can make huge changes in the world.

The Mitsubishi Electric and Electronics America  helps young people with disabilities reach their potential.  Since 1991, the company has invested over 9 million, supporting these programs, but are even more proud of the 30,000 volunteer hours they have given to their communities.  Their mission is to make a difference one individual at a time.

Patrick Henry Hughes is an amazing young man who entertained the Gala with his wit, strength and music.  Born with severe physical challenges, Patrick has been blind and in a wheelchair his entire life.  At the age of 9 months, Patrick started playing the piano and music changed his life.

In college, he was a member of the Louisville Marching Band.  He played the trumpet while his father pushed him in his wheelchair through the marching routines.

Patrick entertained the audience by performing two songs while he accompanied himself on the piano. His rendition of “Believe” by Brooks and Dunn and  “If I Can Dream”, made famous by Elvis Presley brought tears to many eyes.

The auction, led by Joe Veasey, was lots of fun.  Clay slipped on the Tour Jacket, proving that he could still fit in it.  Included in the auction was the shirt he wore during the American Idol of  “Bridge Over Troubled Water”,  a dinner with Clay for 10 people, and a day with Clay.  Some of the bidding was fast and furious.

Clay Aiken ended the evening by performing four songs.  It was wonderful to see him singing again.  Four professional musicians from the New York area joined Clay.  He ended the program with a wonderful performance of “Moon River.”

The entire event was very professional and well-organized.  The food was good, the tables, although close together, were set beautifully.  The video presentations were well-done.  Their production quality was well-down and the background stories of the Gala honorees gave the audience a better idea of their stories.

Clay seemed relaxed and happy.  He was joined by Faye, his grandmother, Jaymes, Jamie, Brett and his friend, Cameron.

The Gala was a wonderful success.  It was an exciting night, filled with lots of love and a pride in the work of the National Inclusion Project.

Clay Aiken – A Celebrity Presenter

By musicfan123 · Comments 4382(14)http%3A%2F%2Fclaynewsnetwork.com%2F2009%2F05%2F14%2Fclay-aiken-a-celebrity-presenter%2FClay+Aiken+-+A+Celebrity+Presenter2009-05-14+07%3A02%3A20musicfan123http%3A%2F%2Fwww.claynewsnetwork.com%2F%3Fp%3D4382
Thursday, May 14th, 2009

It looks like Clay Aiken will be busy next week.  According to sources at the NC Theatre, Clay will be a celebrity presenter at the 3rd Annual NCT Capital Awards.

The 2009 Capital Awards will be on May 18, 2009 at 7:00 pm at Raleigh Memorial Auditorium at the Progress Energy Center in downtown Raleigh.

Presented by Capital Bank, the NCT Capital Awards is a program designed to recognize outstanding high school musical productions and performances.

The mission of the Capital Awards sounds like something Clay would be interested in.  The following is the stated mission from the NCT Web page.

CELEBRATE the work of aspiring young performers in the community.
ELEVATE the importance of performing arts education in community high schools.
PERPETUATE the community’s support and passion for the performing arts.

WHAT: NCT’s version of the Tony Awards, the Capital Awards are designed to recognize outstanding high school musical productions and the students who work so hard on and off-stage to make them happen.

WHY: The Capital Awards is another effort by NCT to advance the performing arts by highlighting the work of the next generation of aspiring young performers.

HOW: Schools/Arts educators will have the option to nominate their school in different categories such as outstanding orchestra, direction, choreography, etc.

Groups of three judges from the Triangle area, selected based on their professional experience in the performing arts and theatre education, will view the productions and assess them according to the program criteria.

The Monday night event is a black-tie event.  Besides Broadway veteran, Clay Aiken, the other celebrity presenters include Clay’s friend, Lynda Loveland, Steve Daniels of WTVD ABC 11, Roy Dicks of The News & Observer and others.

It sounds like an exciting night for the schools and students who are participating.  It is also nice to see Clay Aiken and the other celebrity judges giving back to their community.

Quote of the Day

It is not always about performance art, but about receiving positive energy from people with positive spirits. Sometimes we can see someone's spirit, and those are the people with great energy. Those are the people that get me through the day, especially on Broadway. -Clay Aiken
