Clay Aiken – A Part of An All – Star Benefit

By musicfan123 · Comments 12744(9)http%3A%2F%2Fclaynewsnetwork.com%2F2011%2F10%2F26%2Fclay-aiken-a-part-of-an-all-star-benefit%2FClay+Aiken+-+A+Part+of+An+All+-+Star+Benefit2011-10-26+08%3A51%3A25musicfan123http%3A%2F%2Fclaynewsnetwork.com%2F%3Fp%3D12744
Wednesday, October 26th, 2011

Congratulations to Clay Aiken who has joined a list of celebrities that will be a part of an All-Star benefit concert supporting the True Colors Fund.  The concert, planned by Cyndi Lauper is called Home For The Holidays and will be held at the Beacon Theater on December 4th at 8pm.

The following artists were announced for this exciting show.  They include Norah Jones, Amy Lee, Rosie O’Donnell, Wanda Sykes, Carson Kressley, Chely Wright, Skylar Grey, Vanessa Carlton, Angelique Kidjo, Harvey Fierstein, Deluka, Debbie Harry, Alan Cumming and Clay Aiken.

Tickets for this concert go on sale through Live Nation and Ticket master on Friday, October 28, 2011.

Lauper organized this show to raise money for her foundation called the True Colors Fund.  The charity was formed to assist gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender children who have been thrown out of their homes by their parents or primary custodians.  Cyndi said about the event:

When I first learned that up to 40 percent of all homeless youth in this country identify as gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender I was shocked and saddened. For far too long homeless youth have not received the attention, resources and funding necessary to bring an end to this epidemic. My hope is that through this inspiring evening of music and comedy we can raise awareness and much needed funds to help these young people.”

This month, the group celebrated the opening of the first True Colors Residence, a refuge in New York for dispossessed LGBT teens. The 30-bed shelter is New York’s first full-time residence for LGBT homeless youth, who face challenges far different from many others, and at higher rates.

Cyndi was recently interviewed by the Star and said the following about The True Colors Fund:

“There is a group of people who don’t have equal civil rights, and I think if that’s accepted then all of our rights are up for grabs.

“I don’t preach to anyone and tell them what they should believe or not believe, but I think it’s important that what you believe is based on facts, not fantasy or myth.

“The True Colors Fund is an advocate for homeless LBGT youth, which has reached an epidemic level. … We have reached out to them.

“Parents are throwing their children out on the street. And as a parent, I’ve got to tell you, kids don’t come with a warranty. You can’t send them back to the store. Once you have them, they’re your kids. You don’t throw them out in the street, no matter what. They’re still kids. If you have trouble with who they are, visit some websites and get some information. Talk to other parents in similar situations so you can understand exactly what you are dealing with.

“So maybe your kid is never going to be like you. You still have to support and help them, not beat them down. You have to educate yourself. And that also means watching out to see if your kid is someone bullying another kid. If he or she is, step up and step in. This ‘see no evil; hear no evil’ won’t make it go away. Your child has to be more important than your dogma.”

What an amazing lady!  She is certainly a person who is making a difference in the world.

Did you know that Cyndi Lauper is a popular Grammy award winning music artist, as well as Emmy award winning television, film and theatre actress?  Cyndi was the first ever-female music artist to feature four consecutive songs in the Hot 100 to five hits from a single album. Cyndi has released over 40 singles and 11 albums, and sold nearly 30 million copies worldwide.

Tickets for the Home For The Holidays cost $35 to $500. 100% of the net proceeds of the concert will benefit the True Colors Fund.  So…I hope that many people can hear Clay Aiken in concert and support this amazing charity.

Do you plan on attending?

Clay Aiken – In The “Blender”

By musicfan123 · Comments 12152(8)http%3A%2F%2Fclaynewsnetwork.com%2F2011%2F09%2F22%2Fclay-aiken-in-the-blender%2FClay+Aiken+-+In+The+%22Blender%222011-09-22+07%3A06%3A25musicfan123http%3A%2F%2Fclaynewsnetwork.com%2F%3Fp%3D12152

Clay Aiken was in the “blender.”  It was September 22, 2006, the fourth day of his frantic spin through the talk-show circuit to promote his new album, A Thousand Different Ways

Clay was greeted warmly by the entire panel of ladies on The View. They all commented about his new hairstyle.

Rosie O’Donnell took the lead role in the discussion with Clay. She related that she had her roots in Star Search and could relate to his experience on American Idol and how overwhelming the whirlwind was after the show.

Rosie said that Clay is just a kid who was pushed into the top of the celebrity world. She commented that it is hard to stay grounded, but that he was a good person and deserves the very best.  Clay commented that he had no idea how big the AI show was while he was on it. He realized it when he went to Fantasia’s show and saw the press. He was told that night that in his year, it was much bigger.

There was some talk about panic attacks and how common they are in the world.  In describing his panic attacks, Clay explained that he would feel like everything was whirling around him, that the walls were closing in and then it would hit!  Clay also said that the panic attacks are not over, not 100% under control yet.

The ladies were very supportive and wanted to make sure they conveyed the fact that the panic attacks were nothing to be ashamed of. They all agreed that getting help was the right thing to do.  Rosie said to the fans that Clay knows you love him, but love him from a distance…that is what a true fan would do.

The audience was excited to see Clay and hear him sing.  Clay performed Without You. It was a strong performance and there was lots of applause and cheers for the performance. Rosie’s parting comment was “I admire you.”

Two videos are available for this appearance and the first one includes the positive interview.  The second video is Clay’s performance of Without You.

September 22, 2006………Clay Aiken was in the “blender.”  It was the fourth day of his frantic spin through the talk-show circuit, promoting his new album, A Thousand Different Ways.

On September 22, Clay visited The View.  Clay was greeted with great warmth by Rosie O’Donnell and the other ladies.  They chatted about several different issues including panic attacks, fame and hair styles.

Rosie was the definite leader of the interview.  She related that she had her roots in Star Search and could relate to his experience on American Idol and how overwhelming the whirlwind was after the show.

Much of the short interview was about panic attacks and how common they are in the world.  The ladies were very supportive and wanted to make sure they conveyed the fact that the panic attacks were nothing to be ashamed of.  Rosie said that Clay was doing all the right things.  Clay was surrounded by a very supportive group of ladies.

The audience was filled with Clay fans and the entire group was excited to see Clay and hear him sing.  Clay sang his first single Without You, a favorite on the new album.   Clay stood on the stage which was set beautifully.  This is something The View tries to do for their musical artists.

Quote of the Day

It is not always about performance art, but about receiving positive energy from people with positive spirits. Sometimes we can see someone's spirit, and those are the people with great energy. Those are the people that get me through the day, especially on Broadway. -Clay Aiken
