On Wednesday I was thinking about the National Inclusion Project.  What a joy it has been to see a small idea blossom into a vital organization that is respected by the experts and important for so many young children.

Community has played a vital part in this growing organization.  Those who support the National Inclusion Project feel that they are helping to make a difference.  We know that every donation of time, ideas, or money, helps the Project lead the way for inclusive communities nationwide.

The following are a few of the ways we can “Make A Difference.”

1.  The Pepsi Refresh Challenge:  Just by taking a moment each day in November, we can make a difference by voting in this challenge.  You can vote daily through your email, texting and Facebook.  Don’t forget to get your family, friends, and colleagues to join in the fun.  Just think of all that can be done with $50,000.

We have an awesome partnership with some very dedicated organizations this month so we would also appreciate you voting for them, too. You can go to www.tinyurl.com/pepsinovemberto find the Pepsi links for all of our partners.

You can text the following numbers to PEPSI (73774):

  • 109857 – National Inclusion Project
  • 109468 – SWOOP Wheelchair Ramps
  • 109695 – St. Anthony’s School Computer Lab
  • 109801 – North Central Troy
2.   Christie Cookies! November & December are Our Months!

In 2009, Christie Cookie had a contest to give away $25,000 to charities. They had more than 300,000 people to vote for their favorite charity and more than 1,800 charities from around the country nominated. They learned so much about different charities and the amazing work they do each day, but also the needs they face. So, they decided to do even more to help by giving back to one charity each month.

Each time our featured cookie tin is purchased in the months of November & December, Christie Cookies will donate 20% of the price of the tin back to us.

So click, order, and enjoy not only amazing cookies but also the feeling of knowing you made a difference to ensure no child sits on the sidelines!

3.  Fun Pasta Fundraiser:  National Inclusion Project’s fundraising efforts are underway and we’re excited to be selling Fun Pasta for our cause !  What a great idea for holiday gift giving or anytime gifts !! With your generous support we have been able to continue the success of our inclusion programs and make a difference for kids across the country! The funds raised from this new effort will help us continue our mission of inclusion and it’s so easy to get involved and make a difference in the lives of so many children. . . 40% of your online order will directly support our efforts! So have fun shopping and thank you for your support!

The following are a few facts about this National Inclusion Project Fundraiser…

  •         The deadline for holiday orders is December 1, 2011
  •         Sales Goal…$20,000 – We can do this if we sell 3000 units!
  •         Products are made in the USA
  •         Shelf life is 24 months

Clay Aiken – Volunteer Round Table

Tuesday, October 19th, 2010

On Saturday, October 16th, The National Inclusion Project hosted an outstanding event.  The successful Champions Gala was filled with hope, encouragement, motivation, friendships, good food, generosity and, wonderful music by Clay Aiken and his back-up band.  It was a wonderful celebration of an extraordinary year.

One of the most interesting events of the weekend was held Saturday morning.  Billed as a volunteer round table, the meeting was hosted by Aron Hall and Jerry Aiken.  Priscilla Brame and Diane Bubel were also there to help.

After a short overview of the Pepsi Refresh Project, Aron and Jerry took a moment to share the successes of the foundation.

  • 80 cents of each dollar goes to the children
  • 20,000 children have benefited from the National Inclusion Project
  • There have been 110 programs in 38 states
  • $5 million has been invested to advance inclusion

The participants were told that the 18 Let’s All Play camp programs that were initially funded are all continuing with the program.  Although they no longer qualify for funding from the Project, inclusion has been integrated into their daily practices.

25 programs were funded by the project in 2008, 31 programs in 2009, and 45 programs in 2010.  The programs have taken place in 23 states, including Alaska.  The goal for 2011 is 50 programs!

Jerry stated that the work of the foundation is a social movement and they are working for social change. One of the Project’s beliefs is that every child can make a friend, can participate, and can be successful.  He emphasized that it is not about dropping standards, but finding a new and unique path for success for each child.

It was mentioned that there are three important components of a successful inclusion program:

  • Children with disabilities
  • Accessible activities provided for them
  • Positive relationships with other children

The Saturday workshop was filled with many ideas and suggestions for successful Let’s All Play programs and the morning went by quickly as the group was involved in a “hands-on” presentation.  There was so much positive interaction and each participant went away, filled with hope, excitement and the determination to share this information with the world.  Many of the attendants were interested in getting more training and wanted more information on the regional Let’s All Play training.

Aron talked about some of the projects that have been successful in raising support for the National Inclusion Project.  He stated that each program can be duplicated and that those who started the project are willing to pass along the information to make it run easily.

1.        Wrapping For Inclusion….there is a detailed analysis of the best dates and places and examples of stories that can be used by volunteers.

2.       Black-tie Yard Sale….an upscale yard sale.  Invite antique dealers and members of clubs in the area.  Hold it at a historic home.

3.       Roll N Stroll….It has been very successful in New Jersey and Ohio.

4.       “Toy Day”….various large trucks and equipment are placed in an area.  Children are allowed to climb on them and ask questions of the operators….think fire trucks, bulldozers, tractors.

The National Inclusion Project is just seven years old, yet it has partnered 110 projects in 38 states and invested $5 million to advance inclusion.  They have become the leader in recreational/social inclusion.  What an amazing accomplishment!  Let’s all stand up and work to see that this wonderful work continues until inclusion is the norm and the National Inclusion Project is no longer a necessity!

Clay Aiken – Strong Belief Makes Support Easy

By musicfan123 · Comments 6955(19)http%3A%2F%2Fclaynewsnetwork.com%2F2009%2F11%2F10%2Fclay-aiken-strong-belief-makes-support-easy%2FClay+Aiken+-+Strong+Belief+Makes+Support+Easy2009-11-10+18%3A00%3A50musicfan123http%3A%2F%2Fwww.claynewsnetwork.com%2F%3Fp%3D6955

When you strongly believe in something it is easy to work hard to support it.  This statement has been proven over and over as you watch  the fans of Clay Aiken and The National Inclusion Project join together in creative ways to support their goals.

It was announced this morning that The National Inclusion Project raised over $465,000 at the recent Gala that honored the 2009 Champions.  The official announcement on the National Inclusion Project website gave credit to all the supporters for  raising such a amazing amount of money.  According to the site, “The funds will be used to give children with disabilities the opportunity to experience life along side their typical peers.”

Last week, The National Inclusion Project earned over $25,000 through America’s Giving Challenge. Fans of Clay Aiken and the Project worked together through their donations to support their favorite charity.

In October,  supporters added their e-mails as a way of voting at the Christie Cookie Giveaway. By encouraging their friends and family members to join in, the fans won the contest and $10,000.

What about Wrapping For Inclusion?  Fans all over the nation are gearing up to wrap packages at malls and stores for donations to the National Inclusion Project.  It’s an excellent way to earn some money and promote knowledge of inclusion at the same time.

Then there is GoodSearch/Buy. This site pays for for each search or purchase you make through their site.

Deck The Halls For Inclusion gives you the opportunity to buy some beautiful Holiday Wreaths with a portion of the money going to The National Inclusion Project.

How about Empties 4 Cash? Turn in your ink cartridges for cash.  Another great way to earn money for the National Inclusion Project.

empties4cash@hotmail.com

The NC Nomads have ebay auctions every Tuesday and Saturday and 100% of the money goes to The National Inclusion Project

Linda Learn of the Northeast PA Voices for Inclusion Group is very creative and hard-working too.  She is one of the many fans in Pennsylvania that support Clay and the National Inclusion Project in as many ways as possible.

This holiday season, their group decided to try something different to raise more money for the National Inclusion Project.  They designed and ordered a limited edition “National Inclusion Project” Keepsake Ornament.

The four inch etched glass ornament has a production limit of 100 pieces. The beautiful ornament can be displayed on your desk or in your home, year-round, by using an ornament stand and will serve as an elegant conversation piece or a way to create awareness and spread the word about the National Inclusion Project. It can also be hung on your Christmas tree for the holidays or display it during your “Wrapping For Inclusion” table.

This project is an authorized fundraiser for the National Inclusion Project and the charity will receive $10.00 for each ornament that is sold.  The price for the glass ornament is $25.00 which includes a beautiful, lined presentation box.  Shipping is free.

Orders will be accepted immediately and require prepayment. Please contact Linda Learn at Linda@nepavfi.org or Bonnie Markowski at albon725@comcast.net with your order.

The ornaments will be shipped to you during the first week in December.

The glass ornament is gorgeous and I hope it is a sell-out.  Thank you to Linda, Bonnie and the entire Northeast PA Voices for Inclusion for your hard work on this fundraiser.  Every penny is important towards the goal of full inclusion for all kids!

Clay Aiken – Everyone Can Help

By musicfan123 · Comments 6791(1)http%3A%2F%2Fclaynewsnetwork.com%2F2009%2F10%2F23%2Fclay-aiken-everyone-can-help%2FClay+Aiken+-+Everyone+Can+Help2009-10-23+07%3A34%3A11musicfan123http%3A%2F%2Fwww.claynewsnetwork.com%2F%3Fp%3D6791
Friday, October 23rd, 2009

It is only the middle of October, but the holiday season is upon us.  Halloween is just around the corner, then for those of us in the United States, Thanksgiving is only 5 weeks away.  Then there is Christmas and New Years.  Yes…….the giving season is upon us!

The National Inclusion Project doesn’t take a break over the holidays.  They still need our help.  There are a few unique fundraising possibilities available to help support their goals.

Wrapping For Inclusion is a nationwide holiday gift-wrapping fundraiser which also creates awareness of the National Inclusion Project. Originally started by Clay’s fan base, the program has grown into a tradition of the holidays.

Volunteers of the National Inclusion Project set up gift-wrapping booths at stores and malls across the country and wrap gifts in exchange for donations.

This wonderful project helps to raise awareness and support for the National Inclusion Project and spread some holiday cheer.  What an exciting way to spend a day having fun with friends and raising some needed financial support.

If you would like to volunteer, please send your contact info to aronhall@inclusionproject.org.

Aron is looking for Area Coordinators and wrappers throughout the country.

Deck The Halls For Inclusion is a new fundraiser this year.  It runs from October 16 to November 16, 2009.

Support the National Inclusion Project’s mission of inclusion for children of ALL abilities while decorating homes and offices with beautiful, handmade Rockdale wreaths and other natural items this holiday season! Wreaths also make wonderful gifts for family and friends.

The National Inclusion Project will receive $9 per item for individual orders and $13 per item for bulk orders (8 wreaths shipped to a single address). Bulk orders also save the purchaser $5 per wreath on purchase price.

Purchases must be made from the Project’s exclusive Rockdale store in order for the National Inclusion Project to receive funds!  If you are a member of a Clay fan board, or belong to a Beta Alpha Chapter, you can check with them to make sure your chapter gets credit.

Deadline for online orders is Monday, November 16, 2009. Prices include shipping & handling and the buyer may also select a preferred shipping date.

Please help by purchasing a wreath-or two-or even ten- this holiday season. Share the gift of inclusion. Inclusion works, and it is a gift worth giving.

To see the beautiful wreaths, visit Rockdale Wreaths

The America’s Giving Challenge gives the National Inclusion Project the opportunity to make lots of money. Aron sent the following information so that we could work on this challenge.

Hi everyone,

The National Inclusion Project just entered in America’s Giving Challenge, which gives us a chance to win $50,000! To win, between now and November 7th we have to get the most donations to our cause (every person can donate once per day between 3pm and 2:59pm the next day and have it count as a unique donation). We can also win daily awards of $1,000 and $500 if we can get the most people to donate in any 24-hour period. The great thing about this Challenge is that it doesn’t matter how much you give, but instead how much you do to encourage friends and family to get involved in our cause. We all need to come together and start promoting the cause if we want to win.

Each of us has tons of friends on Facebook who we can ask to donate to our cause. But let’s think big too-can you put our cause in your email signature, can you throw a party and get people to donate through the cause when they enter, can you organize other people to go out and fundraise from all of their friends? As you reach out to your friends be sure to tell them why this cause matters to you. The possibilities are endless so let’s talk about what we can do to win on the Wall of the cause or by replying to this bulletin.

I think we can do it! But it’s going to take all of us. Check out the Giving Challenge (www.causes.com ), then visit our cause to see how we’re doing so far and get involved.

This fundraiser offers two ways to win .. a daily win, and a contest win.

The daily win is based on number of unique donations per day between 3:00 pm and 2:59 pm.

What is a unique donation you ask…that means one donation per person per day is counted towards that day’s total number of donations!

The minimum donation is $10.00. If you plan to donate more than $10.00, it would probably be best to spread it out over different days instead of all at once, as it would mean a vote for each day that you donate, and might help us to win more of the daily challenges.

You can donate either through Facebook … or without Facebook. You don’t have to be a Facebook member to donate!   Let’s do what we can!!

Personally, I love that there are many ways that we can support the National Inclusion Project. It doesn’t matter if we are blessed with a full bank account or working hard to put food on our table, we can be a part of the Project Family.

After the wonderful Gala on October 17th, I have a renewed dedication to help the National Inclusion Project in any way I can.  Will you join me?

Quote of the Day

It is not always about performance art, but about receiving positive energy from people with positive spirits. Sometimes we can see someone's spirit, and those are the people with great energy. Those are the people that get me through the day, especially on Broadway. -Clay Aiken
