Happy Week-end!  Week-ends in August are always Great!

Friday was a busy day for Clay Aiken.  He was all around, meeting and talking to the people of his district.

The day started with a tweet from Team Clay:

Ms.Maron has been a vocal supporter of Clay Aiken during the campaign.  Yesterday, she wrote a lovely short article about Clay:

To understand why I support Clay Aikin for the House of Representative, this is from Wikipedia: ‘Clay Aiken makes it clear that he is aware not everyone shares his religious beliefs and it is not his intention to press these beliefs on others. When he worked as a camp counselor at the YMCA, he challenged other camp faculty by insisting that singing “overtly Christian songs” was inappropriate, as some of the kids were Jewish. “I stood firm… no child is going to have a spiritual crisis on my watch.” His public philosophy, geared towards inclusion and service to others, reflects his stance that decisions about religion should be made at home.’

Wouldn’t it be lovely if the whole House had this philosophy of inclusion and service and respect for others?

Nancy Miller Martin wrote a short blog about Clay at bluenc.    I especially liked this section of her blog:

….The first people I saw when I went into the ballroom were people I have known for a long time. They are friends of my bother and also friends and big supporters of Clay. One of them was telling me that for the longest time they couldn’t believe or figure out why Brad had such phenomenal numbers in his wins. (his words). When he told me what they had figured out I knew Clay could do that too. It’s amazing to see someone come on the scene in politics and win so many people over so fast. After he made his speech and walked back down to the floor, he was mobbed again. In a crowd like that, you need to win people over, but with his charisma, that’s not a problem. They loved him. Everywhere he goes, the people love him.

I didn’t stay long, but I stayed long enough to meet Parker….
