Today is Groundhog Day and this year the unique celebration happens in the middle of a cold spell and on the same day as the Super Bowl. Will the two factors affect the Punxsutawney Phil celebration?
According to the 128-year-old celebration, the groundhog can predict whether spring will arrive early depending on whether he sees his shadow.
The Associated Press reports that neither the polar vortex nor the Super Bowl Game are expected to ruin the fun of Groundhog Day. The Punxsutawney Groundhog Club expects about 20,000 people to gather around Gobbler’s Knob when western Pennsylvania’s world-famous rodent emerges from his lair just after dawn Sunday to “predict” the weather.
So whether you plan on watching football or hoping for the groundhog to predict spring, Sunday will be a great day–beyond a shadow of a doubt.
On Saturday I looked through some of my pictures. As we wait for current news from Clay Aiken, I thought I might post a few.
Do you remember the event?
Do you remember when it occurred?
Give it a try! It might be fun!
