On June 15, 2004, Clay Aiken was the headline performer at the 1st Annual Gala Celebration for the Rosalynn Carter Institute. The Gala was held at Atlanta Symphony Hall, in Atlanta, GA. Danica Tisdale, Miss Atlanta 2004 was also a performer on the program.
Clay sang four songs that night; The Way, I Will Carry You, Invisible, and Bridge Over Troubled Water. The Lee County Middle School Choir from Leesburg, GA joined Clay in the performance of Bridge Over Troubled Water and the audience really enjoyed the collaboration.
The Rosalynn Carter Institute for Caregiving (RCI) was established in 1987 on the campus of Georgia Southwestern State University (GSW) in Americus, Georgia. The RCI was formed in honor of former First Lady Rosalynn Carter, an alumna of GSW, to enhance her long-standing commitments to human development and mental health.
According to the Gala program:
This RCI Gala celebrates caregivers and the critical role thy play in life, touching so many of us on so many levels and affiruming fo rus all the worth found in providing quality care. It recognizes their successes and underscores the selflessness that renders their care so genuine.
