Clay Aiken – Happy Birthday!!

By suereu · Comments 13436(20)http%3A%2F%2Fclaynewsnetwork.com%2F2011%2F11%2F29%2Fclay-aiken-happy-birthday%2FClay+Aiken+-+Happy+Birthday%21%212011-11-30+06%3A13%3A09suereuhttp%3A%2F%2Fclaynewsnetwork.com%2F%3Fp%3D13436
Tuesday, November 29th, 2011

I cannot believe that it’s been an entire year since we last celebrated Clay Aiken’s birthday!  It’s amazing to me how time moves forward, but none of us seem to be getting any older ;-)

For the most part, it’s been a quiet year, with bits of brilliance, excitement and joy mixed in.   In our Nation, it’s been a year of welcoming new members into our embrace and saying good bye to friends, to family, to loved ones.  It has been a year of reflection.

So here’s my “Birthday Musings”:

Life is precious, make the most of every second.  Life can be fragile, embrace those around you like there is no tomorrow – there may not be.  Don’t sweat the small stuff; it’s small for a reason.  Always try to see the other side’s point of view, even if you disagree (it makes for much nicer family dinners, don’t ya think?).

Don’t stew about things you have no control over.  Don’t allow anger, or disappointment, to get in the way of living life; don’t allow those feelings to tarnish special and precious moments – you can never get them back.

Be happy, love lots, and give back.  Take long walks, sing in the shower and rock your child to sleep.  Forgive, forget and move forward, don’t stay stuck in the quagmire of the past – or as was so eloquently stated in King Fu Panda “There is a saying: yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift. That is why it is called the “present.”   Try never to lash out with anger, but reach out with love.

Never put the cart before the horse, never look a gift horse in the mouth, always bet on the long shot and oatmeal is the perfect food.

Laugh long, loud and often.  Find the joy in all that you do (it’s there, but sometimes it’s hidden).  Get lots of sleep, drink plenty of water and eat cake!

And speaking of Cake, if it’s not too much to ask, may we please have a Christmas Tour in 2012?  We kind of miss celebrating your day with you – live and in person………

Oh wait, I forgot something….. Happy Birthday Clay!!!!  I sure hope a $50,000 grant for National Inclusion Project from Pepsi Refresh fits.   Thanks for being one year older so that I can share my rambling thoughts – that aren’t necessarily directed to you, as much as a reminder, mostly to myself, of what is important in this life.

Clay Aiken – Also Sprach Zarathustra!!??!!

I miss Clay Aiken.  I know he is on a well-deserved break away from the frantic life of a celebrity, but I still miss him.

While Clay is away, I have tried to publish many different types of articles about Clay and the important topics that are a part of his life.  Sometimes they work…sometimes not!  Today…lets celebrate music.  Wednesday will be ALL CLAY!!

Happy National Classical Music Month!

If you think that classical music has zero impact on your life you might want to think again. There are many classical songs that have made their way into our lives through traditional events, television, the big screen and modern music.  In honor of National Classical Music Month, CANN would like to post 8 Top Classical Melody picks that I am pretty sure you have heard. Even though you might not know the names of the composers or the titles of the pieces, it doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy and appreciate the musical compositions.

#8: William Tell Overture

This popular melody is used in situations that are frantic, fast-forwarded and hurried. The melody is frequently used in comical and humorous scenarios both on television and in the movies. It is also the theme song for The Lone Ranger.

#7:  Bach, Minuet in G, Anna Magdalena Notebook (Petzold)

Besides being in Willie Nelson’s 1986 hit version, Bach Minuet in G, the song is often heard at children’s piano recitals.  It has also been featured in many commercials and films.

#6:  2001 A Space Odyssey Opening

The original title to this popular piece is Also Sprach Zarathustra by the composer Richard Strauss. Besides being the popular beginning of 2001- A Space Osyssey the music was heard in the 2005 film “Charlie And The Chocolate Factory”, and was played by Elvis before he would perform on stage.

#5:  Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart–Eine Kleine Nachtmusik

Arguably Mozart’s most famous piece, this number sets the stage for posh parties, banquets, or balls in movies. It was the introductory music for the original 1983 Mario Bros Nintendo game, featured in the 2006 film “Tenacious D In: The Pick Of Destiny,” and is sung by “The Four Peters” in the 2005 episode of Family Guy titled “Model Misbehavior”…now that’s a lot of fame for a song that dates back to the mid 1700’s!

#4: Händel Messiah – Hallelujah Chorus

Whether you have heard it in a religious setting or have seen it in a comedy show, when someone saves the day, this music is popular throughout the world. It is traditional that the audience stands when this piece is played.

#3: Richard Wagner – Lohengrin, Act 3 – “Treulich geführt ziehet dahin”

Anyone that has attended a wedding, participated in a wedding, or has seen a wedding scene on the big screen, has hummed along to this song at one time or another. A song that was not intended to be a wedding song is now the signature piece for weddings around the world.

 #2 Beethoven’s 5th Symphony

Aside from being Judge Judy’s theme music, this Classical Music piece is famous around the world.  Also played during a 2007 TV commercial for XM satellite radio (featuring Snoop Dogg) this piece that is often referred to as the “Duh, Duh, Duh Duuuuuh”, is really a beautiful piece of music.

#1: Palladio by Karl Jenkins

What girl doesn’t love this commercial?  It has moved us, and coincidentally the diamond market, when the DeBeers commercials hit television screens across the nation.

Whatever your favorite genre of music might be it is wonderful that the month of September celebrates music.  Having grown up in a home where classical music was all I ever heard, I love listening to Brahms, Mahler, Mozart and many other great composers. Yet, when I heard Clay Aiken sing the first time, my heart soared and life was just a little bit better than the day before.

Do you ever listen to Classical Music?  If so, do you have a favorite composer or composition?

Clay Aiken – News As It Happens!

This is Clay Aiken News Network.  Our goal has and will always be to keep you updated on all the Clay Aiken news as it happens.  We have also tried to keep up on topics that are important in Clay’s professional life.

Recently, I have found it more of a challenge to present new and different topics so today we are going off track a bit.  I hope you don’t mind.  Tomorrow we will be back to Clay Aiken…I would like to think that Clay might chuckle at some of the obsolete gadgets, but he’s probably too young to remember some of them

I was on the Internet yesterday, looking for information about the changing field of music.  I was trying to find different opinions about the CD and why many people see it as obsolete. But…somehow I got off on another tangent.

It seemed that with each entry, I would come across many different gadgets, technologies, and habits that are now either obsolete or well on their way.

Because of the many advancements and gadgets introduced in the last few years, the whole world has changed.  We now have entirely different ways to do business, look for information, and connect with others.

We can reach anywhere in the world in just seconds, we have touch-screens and we share our thoughts with friends all over the world.

So…I am sharing some of the obsolete gadgets with you.  How is your memory?  Do you remember using any of these “older” devices?  Do you still use some of these inventions?

17 Things That Became Obsolete!

PDAs

Remember that trusty stylus? The once-awesome Palm Pilot had no chance when the touch-screen smartphone became the norm.

Dial-up

Static… dial tone… repeat a few times… ah, Internet!  30 minutes later…a download of a 3 minute Clay moment! I definitely won’t miss dial-up!

Getting film developed

Just think of all the pictures of Clay Aiken that we can take with a digital camera. Does anyone actually use film anymore?

Movie Rental Stores

Digital cable TV has given us Video-on-Demand and Netflix.  We no longer need to go to Blockbuster and hope the movie we want to see is available.  Are there any rental stores around anymore?

Maps

We used to have a folder with fold-up maps in our car.  Nowadays, we just punch in our destination into our GPS or smartphone. We’re good to go. Besides cutting down on the arguments about the quickest way, I no longer have to struggle to fold up the map correctly.

Newspaper classifieds

The Internet has become the place to go to find a job or a house or even sell your old couch. We can thank Craig Newmark from Craig’s List for this shortcut.

The Landline

89% of the U.S. can use wireless phones.  Every day, more and more people choose their cell phone over their landline at home.  It is not obsolete yet, but it is on its way out!

Long-Distance Charges

Because of cell phones, it no longer costs extra to make call to the other side of the U.S.  And, if you need to make international calls, there is Skype and various other free Internet chat services make international calls totally free (at least for now).

Public pay phones

I don’t think I can remember the last time I saw a public pay phone, let alone used one.

VCRs

DVD players outsold VCR’s in 2002 for the first time.  Today we have digital movie watching so “bye-bye” to the VCR.

Fax machines

Today, most people use e-fax.  The annoying fax machine is now passe.

Phone books, dictionaries, encyclopedias

What do you do with the many phone books that get dropped in your driveway?  I can get what I want on the Internet.  And, one of my “Bookmarked” spots is a dictionary.

CDs

It is the age of digital music and the iPod.  And, is there a store by you that still carries CD’s?  Album sales dropped by another 13% in 2010.  It is only a matter of time until the CD becomes just a relic of times gone by. (Maybe we should add the Walkman to this topic.)

Backing up your data on floppies or CDs

Now we have external hard drives and even thumb drives.  What am I going to do with all those DVD’s with all my Clay files on them?

Boundaries

With Facebook, MySpace and Twitter, boundaries went out the window.  I am not convinced that this is good.

Paper

Since most communication is now conducted on-line, fewer people continue having a newspaper delivered to their home.  You can get the news quicker on the Internet…and you can get many different points of view.  Some people feel that paper is the biggest casualty of the decade

Record Stores

Records have long been obsolete, except as nostalgia. But the record store, as in a store that sells music, has now been replaced by the Internet and iTunes.

Did we forget anything?

What else is toast? I would love to hear in the comments.

Clay Aiken – Are You In The Clouds?

By musicfan123 · Comments 10339(8)http%3A%2F%2Fclaynewsnetwork.com%2F2011%2F06%2F07%2Fclay-aiken-are-you-in-the-clouds%2FClay+Aiken+-+Are+You+In+The+Clouds%3F2011-06-07+07%3A44%3A40musicfan123http%3A%2F%2Fclaynewsnetwork.com%2F%3Fp%3D10339

Monday, June 6th, the Apple Worldwide Developer Conference was held in San Francisco.  Steve Jobs delivered the keynote address and announced news about the new, free service, iCloud.

Jobs said the new, free service, iCloud, would replace the personal computer as the central hub of people’s digital lives by storing photos, music and documents. Relying on the PC, he said, no longer works now that millions of people have multiple devices, each with photos, documents, songs, phone applications and other files.

I would love to see all my Clay Aiken music and photos on all my computers and my iPhone.  Of course, I will have to pay the extra $25 a year to download much of my Clay Aiken library.  I have songs from concerts, TV programs and even Clay’s Pre-AI songs in my library.  But, to me, they are worth the $25 if I can listen to the songs wherever I go.

According to Jobs, there will be a new version of iTunes to help all our music and pictures join the cloud. And, the number of songs an iTunes Match subscriber can store is unlimited.

One of the interesting things that came out of the yesterday’s Apple Worldwide Developer Conference was some of the data from iTune….it is really amazing.

  • Apple is celebrating its 15 billionth song download since opening the ‘iTunes Music Store’ in mid-2003
  • Apple has sold 200 million iOS devices (including iPhones, iPod touches, iPads).
  • The iPad accounts for 25 million in sales
  • More than 14 billion apps have been sold.
  • 130 million ebooks have been purchased from the iBookstore.

It looks like Apple is not suffering during the on-going financial slowdown

If I had to guess, I would imagine that Clay Aiken would be first in line for this new iTunes feature

Do you have an iTunes account?  Is the new iTunes Cloud something you are interested in?  Do you listen to Clay on your iPod/iPhone?

Quote of the Day

It is not always about performance art, but about receiving positive energy from people with positive spirits. Sometimes we can see someone's spirit, and those are the people with great energy. Those are the people that get me through the day, especially on Broadway. -Clay Aiken
