Sunday, January 30th, 2011

Today, Sunday, January 30th, Clay Aiken will be performing in the large RBC stadium in his hometown of Raleigh.  Clay will be singing the National Anthem at the NHL All-Star game at 4:00pm ET.  Clay has had many opportunities to sing in Raleigh and he certainly has sung in RBC arena before.

If you were a fan of Clay when he was on American Idol, you probably remember the AI Tour stop in Raleigh.  On August 6th, 2003, the residents of Raleigh opened their hearts to Clay as he rose triumphantly on a platform from beneath the stage.  It was a moment that will always be remembered by Clay and his many fans.  When his performance was finished, Clay stood silently for several minutes as he received an ovation that brought him to tears.

Today, Raleigh has the opportunity to open their hearts again when Clay steps up to sing the National Anthem. There is no doubt that Clay will sing with a strong voice and show his pride for his city and country.

I love the pictures from Clay’s American Idol performance in Raleigh.  When you see the pictures you can almost hear the audience screaming its love to Clay.

Clay Aiken And Hockey Are Not Strangers

By musicfan123 · Comments 10183(9)http%3A%2F%2Fclaynewsnetwork.com%2F2011%2F01%2F29%2Fclay-aiken-and-hockey-are-not-strangers%2FClay+Aiken+And+Hockey+Are+Not+Strangers2011-01-29+07%3A14%3A32musicfan123http%3A%2F%2Fwww.claynewsnetwork.com%2F%3Fp%3D10183
Saturday, January 29th, 2011

On Monday, January 24, 2011, it was announced that Clay Aiken would be singing the National Anthem at the NHL All-Star Game.  The game is scheduled for Sunday, January 30th at 4pm ET.  It will be held in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Since this announcement, it seems that some people have forgotten that hockey and Clay are not strangers.  Too bad they don’t remember a wonderful Sunday afternoon in December 2003 when Clay skated with 100 children at the RBC Center.

The event was planned so that children with and without special needs would have the opportunity to mingle together, offering an afternoon where they could learn from each other and make new friends.

Dawn Graham was a volunteer with the Bubel/Aiken Foundation and was at the event to help out. Graham had this to say to summarize the event:

“Clay spoke and skated with each of the children, asking their names, where they went to school, etc. He looked to have as much fun as they did! They were each outfitted with a specially made Bubel/Aiken Foundation jersey, and Clay was sporting a ‘Canes jersey with ‘Aiken 03’ on the back. Some of the children were not physically able to skate, so some of them were pushed across the ice on metal chairs.

The next day, Clay sang the National Anthem at the Carolina Hurricanes vs. Dallas Stars, NHL Hockey Game.  Wearing his red Canes jersey, Clay stood on a mat on the ice.  During the 1st break, Clay surprised the hockey fans by skating around the ice as he sang I Will Carry You…and there wasn’t even a stumble!!

During the second intermission, Clay stood on a scissor lift and sang Don’t Save It All For Christmas Day and The Way. Clay was off the ice because there is an NHL regulation on how much time a non-player can spend on the ice during the game. As Clay sang, the arena turned dark and the words “Clay Aiken” in lights circulated around the top of the arena. Clay ended the program by singing Invisible.

I wish that every person who doesn’t know Clay Aiken could read this blog.  If they knew him, they would be on their feet, cheering on Clay who is one of the most decent persons I know.

Clay was interviewed on WRAL in Raleigh on Friday morning.  It was a short interview, but friendly.  Take a listen.  You can hear it on the following YouTube.

Clay Aiken – The Unlikely Pop Star

It all started in Atlanta, Georgia on January 28th, 2003, when millions of people were introduced to a skinny redhead who wore glasses and had a unique fashion style. The American Idol judges looked skeptical and no one knew what to expect.

But like your mother used to say, don’t judge a book by its cover. Clay Aiken opened his mouth to sing and the incredible voice that poured out amazed everyone.

“Why are you here?” Clay spread his hands and stated simply; “Because I am the next American Idol.”

The skeptical judges watched and listened as Clay sang an excerpt from the 80’s song, Always and Forever and demonstrated his rich, clear voice.

Randy Jackson wanted to know where the voice came from and Simon Cowell suggested that he didn’t look like a pop star. But, it’s all about the voice and so Clay, the unlikely pop star, made his first steps on an incredible journey.

The voice continued to amaze through the following weeks. Clayton Aiken became Clay Aiken. He not only looked like a pop star, he became one.

Please watch this incredible audition video!

Clay Aiken – There Is Just Something Special

Sometimes you just remember a certain Clay Aiken performance more than another.  Clay’s visit with Jay Leno on September 15, 2006 is one that is remembered and popular with many fans.

Clay started the promotion for “A Thousand Different Ways” with this appearance on The Tonight Show.  He joined Howie Mandel and had a engaging interview with lots of laughs.  He chatted about passing out in McDonald’s while in Slovenia and getting so ill that he was planning his funeral.

But, the visit was really remembered more for the stunning look that Clay had that night.  There was just something special about the gray suit that made Clay look amazing.

I know we have all seen them before, but they are worth another look.  The two videos are pretty awesome too.

Clay Aiken – Fostering The Cause of Inclusion

By musicfan123 · Comments 10180(6)http%3A%2F%2Fclaynewsnetwork.com%2F2011%2F01%2F26%2Fclay-aiken-fostering-the-cause-of-inclusion%2FClay+Aiken+-+Fostering+The+Cause+of+Inclusion2011-01-26+08%3A04%3A01musicfan123http%3A%2F%2Fwww.claynewsnetwork.com%2F%3Fp%3D10180

Because of Clay Aiken, many people were made aware of the  National Inclusion Project and support it in many ways.  This wonderful organization became a reality in July, 2003.  According to the National Inclusion Project, their website list the following as their mission:

The National Inclusion Project serves to bridge the gap that exists between young people with disabilities and the world around them. We partner with communities and inclusive programs creating awareness about the possibilities that inclusion can bring.

On January 24, 2011, Pepsi Refresh officially announced that the Project won a $50,000 grant.  Think of all the kids that will be helped by this money.

There are many other ways that fans can help in the fund-raising for The National Inclusion Project.

On Tuesday, a new fundraiser was launched by Clay to help support the Project.

One of a Kind Clay Aiken VIP Package

The VIP package includes:

  • 2 first row tickets to the show
  • Meet & Greet with Clay for you and your guest
  • 2 Gift bags from the National Inclusion Project

There are 2 auctions for each tour stop and the minimum bid is $250.  The National Inclusion Project states that 95% of final sale price for this auction will benefit National Inclusion Project -and 5% will be reserved to cover eBay and PayPal fees.  For more information and a link to the E-Bay site, visit Clay’s Official Fan Club.

Another fundraiser that centers around the Tried & True Tour is:

The Way We Make a Difference

This project began with a simple idea – that of fostering the cause of inclusion with a donated concert ticket. Thanks to your support, people with and without disabilities have been able to experience the joy of attending a concert together. Some of the organizations we have worked with include Best Buddies, Special Olympics, YMCA, The Arc of the United States and Ronald McDonald houses.

The Way We Make A Difference Ticket Project is currently seeking tickets and/or donations for Clay’s upcoming Tried and True Tour!

If you would like to make a monetary contribution or if you have an extra ticket or two to donate, we would welcome them!

For anyone not familiar with our project, TWWMAD promotes inclusion by offering a chance for people with and without disabilities to share in the excitement of seeing Clay in concert.

If you have tickets you would like to donate, please email us at ticketdonation@thewaywemakeadifference.org

Thanks in advance for helping us to make a difference, one concert ticket at a time!

Clay Aiken is a fascinating man.  To know that Clay will soon be sharing his music with many people is exciting.  His wonderful spirit and talent, along with his gorgeous voice will inspire, entertain and delight.

Whether it is on tour, or on Broadway, or even a hockey game, Clay gives us something special.  It is easy to look forward to his performances and the gifts he has for us.

I came across the following video today and want to share it with you.  It takes us back a long way to the Independent Tour.  Do you remember the acoustic medley?  This montage is a great way to see and hear Clay’s beautiful voice and his ability to entertain.  I hope you will watch and enjoy it.

Clay Aiken – Singing At NHL All-Star Game

By musicfan123 · Comments 10178(17)http%3A%2F%2Fclaynewsnetwork.com%2F2011%2F01%2F24%2Fclay-aiken-singing-at-nhl-all-star-game%2FClay+Aiken+-+Singing+At+NHL+All-Star+Game2011-01-24+08%3A10%3A08musicfan123http%3A%2F%2Fwww.claynewsnetwork.com%2F%3Fp%3D10178

According to Brian Mansfield at USA Today’s Idol Chatter,  Clay Aiken will be singing the National Anthem at the NHL All-Star Game.

The game is scheduled for Sunday, January 30th at 4pm ET.  It will be held in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Clay said:

We all rally behind the home team.  I don’t think anybody in Raleigh knew much about hockey until the Hurricanes came to town, but now everybody has learned to love it.

In the Idol Chatter article, Clay talks about his up-coming tour and says  he has a few surprises up his sleeve.

You can read Brian’s article at Idol Chatter

It will be nice to hear Clay sing the national anthem.  He has always done such a great job on that difficult song.  Will you be tuning in??

Quote of the Day

It is not always about performance art, but about receiving positive energy from people with positive spirits. Sometimes we can see someone's spirit, and those are the people with great energy. Those are the people that get me through the day, especially on Broadway. -Clay Aiken
