Clay Aiken -“Giving Voice To The Often Voiceless

Social media was the source of some news about Clay Aiken.

On Thursday morning, the following tweet was published with a nice picture:

., and join this Sunday at 6:30p E.

If you are used to reading tweets, you know that this says that Clay Aiken will be a guest on the Al Jazeera America show called The Third Rail.  It will be broadcast on Sunday, October 18th, at 6:30pm (Eastern time).

I have to admit that I have never watched the TV show, The Third Rail.  So, I did a little hunting about it and the TV station it is on.

Al Jazeera America is a popular television news channel in the U.S.  The channel broadcasts breaking news, lifestyle magazines, talk programs, and documentaries to over 49 million U.S. households in the United States. It reports news from all over America and around the world.  Al Jazeera America is American led and staffed. It is headquartered in New York City and has additional bureaus in key locations across the United States.

According to their website:

Al Jazeera America will adhere to the uncompromising ideals of the award-winning Al Jazeera Media Network, delivering in depth, fact-based and investigative journalism that will bring a fresh and unique style to the American news landscape – shedding light on all sides of a story, providing context, enriching understanding, and giving voice to the often voiceless.

Al Jazeera America’s The Third Rail is a weekly hour-long show that looks at controversial issues. It has a moderator for guest debates.

From the Third Rail:

Third Rail will ask the tough questions other news programs avoid, and hold guests accountable on their views.  We’ll push and challenge guests to spark a clash of ideas and help viewers understand issues and stories in new ways. ‘Third Rail’ is smart, lively and fast-paced—it’s the death-zone for conventional wisdom.

Ali Velshi hosts a one-hour business program on Al Jazeera America called Ali Velshi – On target. He also hosts many shows for the station. Before signing on to AJA, Velshi was CNN’s Chief Business Correspondent.

Carrie Sheffield is a columnist and broadcaster in Manhattan. A political economy contributor with Forbes, she is a senior writer with the new media startup Opportunity Lives.

Carrie hosted an online TV show for The Washington Times and has appeared on many shows, including HBO’s Real Time With Bill Maher, MSNBC, Fox Business Network, and The Blaze.  Carrie has written for The Wall Street Journal, TIME, USA Today, The New York Times, The Washington Post, Huffington Post, American Spectator, and Daily Caller.

Jessica Proud is a Republican strategist. She is a partner at The November Team.

Add Clay Aiken to this educated group of people and you have an exciting show to look forward to.

I have checked my cable listing and know that I can watch the show at 3:30pm.  I will have to TIVO the show and watch it later as I will be hosting my grandkids for the week-end.  I do believe that to them, making Halloween decorations is more important!!

Do you get the Al Jazeera station on your TV?

If so, will you watch the show on Sunday?

Here’s hoping Clay will end the work-week with a great tweet…
