Clay Aiken – Accessibility Assures Accountability

Things seem to be getting better and better as Clay Aiken continues down the path towards The House of Representatives in Washington D.C.

I hope you all had a chance to see the invitation about the Reception/Fundraiser on April 21st in Los Angeles.  It was posted here mid-day Monday.  It looks like it will be an amazing event.

On Monday, a new article was posted about Clay and the 2nd Congressional District in North Carolina.

The Courier-Tribune – Election Preview U.S. House, District 2, Democratic Candidates

ASHEBORO — Three Democrats are hoping to be chosen as the candidate to run against the Republican challenger in the race for the U.S. House of Representatives District 2 seat currently held by Renee Ellmers.

Entertainer Clay Aiken of Cary; Toni Morris, a licensed professional counselor in Fayetteville; and businessman Keith Crisco of Asheboro are all in the race. Morris could not be reached for this article and did not respond to an email request to complete the candidate questionnaire. She maintains a campaign website at tonimorris4congress.com.

Aiken, 35, received a bachelor of arts in special education at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. More of his background can be found at clayaiken.com. He may be best known for his appearance on “American Idol” and success in the music industry. However, he is running on his experience as an activist for special needs children.

“I earned a degree in special education. I planned to become a special education teacher for children with autism before I enjoyed some success in my singing career,” he said. “I used that success as a platform to start a foundation that helps children with special needs. It now sponsors programs in 35 states.”

Aiken said he has served as an ambassador for UNICEF to support its programs for children and women in war-torn, poverty-stricken nations like Afghanistan and Somalia.

“I have not spent my life in government and politics,” he said. “I am a truly independent outsider and I am ready to work with people on both sides of the aisle on behalf of the 2nd Congressional District.”

A key issue in this campaign for Aiken is the dysfunction, gridlock and partisanship in Congress that he says make it impossible to address the pressing concerns of people in the Second District and across America.

“We need to create jobs and strengthen the economy,” he said. “We need to provide a good education for children, young people and adults who want new skills. We need to provide more support for our military personnel, veterans and their families. I will work across party lines to solve problems and help people.”

Aiken said, unlike Ellmers, he will be available and accessible to the people in the district, if elected.

“Accessibility is the best way to assure accountability.”
